"Do NOT use this firm for international moves. Or for any moves, really."

We had a terrible experience with an international move, arranged by Alpha Pro. Our furniture arrived with major damage (not just some scratches, but actually broken furniture), and missing items. Truly terrible. And no desire to make it right: no offer to pay the repair bill (which we sent them) or replace the missing item, just some weasel-talk about the "Terms and Conditions". Like an idiot, I had paid them in full before they had off-loaded the trucks, so there was nothing I could do anymore. Now, I will survive the damage (in excess of 2000 euro), and life is too short to try and sue them, but I would urge anyone who reads this, to NOT use Alpha Pro if they care at all about their possessions. I am still angry about their lack of care, rudeness towards me and my wife, and sneakiness of Alpha Pro. (And I obviously don't deserve a medal myself for paying them in full before they started to off-load. Lesson learned).

Top notch
Professional from start to finish. Really polite when booking and the guys that did the move were lovely. They were fast and efficient and careful with all our belongings; nothing was a problem for them. Would thoroughly recommend.

Blazing fast and professional, these guys are rock. I was looking what options I had on a Saturday morning, got a call back few minutes after submitting a quote inquiry, got arranged the pickup for next day. And received the stuff less than 24 hours after removal. In Germany. I cannot stop recommending these guys high enough.

"My couch got rodent infested in storage with Alphapro Removals"

I used alphapro removals to remove my things, store them for almost a year and move them to my new place at a significant cost. When my belongings were returned I was hugely disappointed to find that my couch worth £1,000 has been infested with rodents and stank, so unfortunately needed to be binned. I contacted alphapro removal to see what they were willing to do about it but they refused to do anything as I didn’t have insurance with them.

I explained that I wasn’t expecting them to pay out for the couch but I did expect compensation on the storage costs when they had been negligent of my property and not stored it safely.

They refused to do anything.

If you use them, do so at yours (and your belongings) risk.

UPDATE FOLLOWING ALPHAPROS RESPONSE:

In response to Alphapros points:

1. Yes, collection and delivery were made in a timely manner. My goods were clearly NOT stored well (hence the rodent infested couch).

2. It feels like the accusation that I had food in storage has just been made to undermine my review. I can confirm there was no food stored, and would like to highlight that Alphapro did not mention this as a concern in my emails with them about this issue.

3. As mentioned in my initial review, I accept that we didn't have insurance with Alphapro and didn't expect them to pay out for the couch. My issue is that they were negligent with how they looked after my property, and I therefore expected some compensation towards the expensive storage costs I paid for them to poorly store my goods.

SMALL UPDATE FOLLOWING ALPHAPROS SECOND RESPONSE:

1. It is clearly a lie that 'all items had no physical damage' as my couch was rodent infested in storage. I have sent Alphapro images as evidence of this damage (including a hole in the lining, rodent feces under the lining, and splash marks on the lining of rodent urine). Had the couch been appropriately wrapped in storage I imagine this damage wouldn't have happened.

"Terrible experience"

They cancelled their service 1 hour before agreed removal time due to their people working longer at another site. I did pay deposit in advance and I was promised that they will deliver their service as I have small child and I sold my property and moved to new one, so I had to vacate old property in a timely manner. When I spoke to manager he told me that guys might show up 3 hours later or might not show at all as they finish their work at 6. Terrible experience and service.

"Excellent service"

I used Alpha Pro removals from a move of a 2 bedroom property from London to outside of London. The job included taking apart and putting together all furniture at the new location.
Alpha Pro sent someone for a survey in order to provide a quote. Very professional and friendly, gave us some packing advice as well.
As the completion day approached I remained in touch with them with some additional questions and were always helpful and polite.
On the day of the move the staff arrived on time, dismantled and loaded everything carefully, without causing any damage and attention to detail.
At the new property they promptly unloaded and put everything back together with the same attention to detail. To be honest, the speed these guys were working was amazing, hats off!
All this at a competitive price, so I'd definitely recommend them.

"Sub-standard service at premium price"

We decided to hire AlphaPro removals for our moving from West Drayton to Reading, despite the relatively high price, because they promised a professional service better than most mainstream companies offer. We ordered a full packing and moving service for full peace of mind, but in the end we had several headaches on the day, and since moving. Although they got the job done, we were not satisfied with their service for a number of reasons.
- They initially promised 4 men on each day (first day to pack, and second day to move) but only 3 appeared on the first day. When we called to enquire about this – having been told by the men themselves who were there that this was not sufficient for the work needed – the manager was extremely rude to us on the telephone. He raised his voice, told me I couldn’t read (when it turned out it was he that was reading a previous quote for the partial packing service), and finally offered to reduce the overall price by £150 (a tiny concession given the price we were paying). At this point we were already stressed and disappointed, and accepted this since he refused to send another person to help with the packing.

- The packing went ok, though was rushed given the shortage of staff to help. However, after we moved and started to unpack we found several anomalies. Several items that were not fragile were wrapped in bubble wrap or layers of paper, while the most fragile items were wrapped in only cardboard! We had a coffee table made of three layers of glass – these were all only covered in cardboard, and inevitably one of pieces broke (we only discovered after unwrapping, several weeks after the move). Another champagne flute was wrapped in paper only, and this too snapped in two. We have more fragile items to unpack and I have no doubt we will find more broken. AlphaPro had visited our house and knew exactly about all these fragile items, including the coffee table, and assured us that this would be ‘no problem’ and that their men were all professionals, but this packing shows that is not the case.

- On the second day, it emerged that there was not enough space for our belongings in the two trucks – despite the manager of Alpha Pro having been the person to come to our house and tell us how much space we needed. When we discovered these, they rang us to say ‘either pay another £350 for another truck, or we leave the rest of your stuff there’. The men doing the actual move told us this was not unusual!! In the end, we left some items with neighbours, donated other items, and then filled our car with the rest.
- Furthermore, on the day of the move we had to wait for the key of the new house so the unpacking started quite late, after 4pm. AlphaPro charged for the additional hours, which is not unreasonable, but also threated to charge us a full extra-day if the work went beyond 9pm. This is not right, one should either pay for the extra hours or the extra day but not for both. In the end, with a lot of stress (more of it!), we managed to finish unpacking the things into the house by 9pm.

These are the kind of problems that one would expect to find with a cheaper removals company. Our recommendation is, if you want a serious professional service, don’t hire AlphaPro.

Edit after response: you already told me via email that no claim could be made, and with absolutely no apology for the shoddy service and broken items, despite telling you the sentimental (as well as financial) value of these items, which were wedding gifts. Dealing with you has honestly been upsetting. You have been consistently rude to me and now you are being completely dishonest about the third truck - we did get rid of all of those items as discussed with you. I have proof of sale for all of them should you require that. You also checked with me on the day and I confirmed that we had gotten rid of all of them, and your staff also checked. Just FYI, I can't believe that I sent you photos of the poorly wrapped items - glass covered only in cardboard and tape, with corners poking out, and have actually received no apology from you! I also never received an apology for the rude and aggressive tone which your partner took on the phone with me, I actually still shaken by the way we were treated. I only hope that you improve you service and your way of dealing with customers, but I have little hope given the way you have responded here and via email. You do not appear to care at all about the poor service we received. I do not leave bad reviews lightly - I have friends and family who work in the service industry, but your poor behaviour, service and now response have pushed me to do so.
