"Had a Conservatory fitted in January…"
Had a Conservatory fitted in January 2017 and windows in June 2017. The fitters were excellent and worked really hard and finished both really quickly and tidied up each day. I was so happy with finished work that I have recommended Smiths to my neighbour opposite who wanted a new conservatory.

"Large conservatory fitted in 2016."
Had a conservatory fitted in our house in Oct/Nov 2016 by Smiths.
Found them to be very pleasant and the work was finished to a high standard.
We had an issue with the new radiator leaking, and it caused damage to the newly screeded floor.
There was a bit of blame being passed from one person to another as to who’s fault it was, but
it was repaired in an acceptable time. We hadn’t put any flooring down, so there was no lasting damage.
We then had a tiny leak in the roof, only because a joint in the uPVC hadn’t had a connecter of some sort. Again, Smiths did send someone around to sort it out, and it was fine after that.
I was very pleased with the build, as the weather wasn’t that great and the garden was quite muddy. The workers were friendly and really cleaned up after themselves. They even plastered the house wall for us for a small charge, which was really helpful. (Plastering the house wall isn’t included in the price as it’s not technically a part of the build, so it’s worth asking them as they seemed pretty happy to do it).
We have since moved from this property, but I sincerely believe that the conservatory was a strong selling point. It was a great size and looked like an additional reception room.

"Had a conservatory fitted last year"
Had a conservatory fitted last year, slight delay in installation but other that great service, workmen were lovely. Had lots of compliments and definitely competitively priced. Only down side is the sales calls after trying to convince me my new conservatory needed a new roof!

"Smiths Windows beware! Do not use this poor excuse for a Windows company"
I was aware of some of the negative reviews alluded to this company but as I had used them a few years ago to fit PVC doors and had no issues, I decided to give Smiths the benefit of doubt and sought a quote for them to build a conservatory. The quote I received from Smiths was competitive compared to the other quotes I received. Shortly after initial quote, Smith contacted me suggesting that the quote they offered was only available for a very limited time and I agreed for them to build conservatory but this was mainly due to them fitting PVC doors previously without issue.
I paid the deposit of £500 in February and survey was performed and I paid the remaining paid £850 of deposit in early March. I then heard nothing from Smiths until it got to the stage when I started to wonder what was going on so I tried calling them around late May/early June without success, their sales department where rude and fobbed me off and advised me to contact their installation department where no one answered the phones (phone rang for an hour on occasion until It cut off). I also sent several emails / website form without response.
I became very concerned about the situation and on 18.7.17 I visited Smiths Head office in person where I was left waiting in a room downstairs in the head office until the operations manager spoke to me about my concerns and looked into my query. He asked was whether I was a cash or finance customer which ringed alarm bells (a finance customer is likely to be far more profitable than a cash customer). I advised him that I was a cash customer, he then advised that there was a note on my order file stating that installation wasn’t going to go ahead due to it being priced too cheap and he will have to check this with his director to confirm and stated he will get back to me later that time to confirm, I advised me that I expected a installation date or a refund by the end of the day. I left, but at 5pm, I still heard nothing from him so I telephoned Smiths and spoke to him and he advised advised that they weren’t going to build the conservatory. I then demanded an immediate refund of deposit and suggested a further £150 should also be paid for inconvenience - I could have easily gone to a competitor and would not have had this issue if they were honest and responded to my emails and advised me of their intention. I was advised that the refund was being approved and their finance department would process the refund, the Operations Manager declined my request for £150. The following day the refund was still not in my bank account, I then telephoned Smiths again now threatening legal action. It was only then I received communication from Smiths confirming that the refund would be processed. The only positive thing Smith did was refund the deposit.
Trading standards have been made aware of this incident. I would urge anyone with similar experiences with this company to do the same.
I am appealing to anyone considering using this company to reconsider. You have been warned!
Since this review, Smiths Windows have contacted Trustpilot suggesting they have no record of me, but not to worry because I have evidence in the form of email correspondence, bank statements, sales invoice and contracts etc. Trustpilot made aware.

"Actual work acceptable but customer service awful"
Smiths' actual work was acceptable.
However, their customer service is awful, especially once they have your money. Pre-installation, they repeated rang the wrong co-owner (instead of the resident co-owner), despite being told each time to only contact the resident co-owner. They kept saying that they did not have the contact details of the resident co-owner. If that was true, that was only due to their failure to record those details each time.
Post-installation, they failed to respond to chasing emails (currently 4 and counting over two weeks), failed to provide a receipt of final payment (despite it being promised the working day after installation), and failed to provide a fire safety certificate (a freeholder requirement). They rarely answer the telephone.
I will not use Smiths again and would advise people against them.
*******************************UPDATE TWO WEEKS LATER*******************
Although Smiths have now managed to provide us with a receipt, we are still waiting for the fire safety certificate. This is despite numerous emails to Smiths and three phone calls FROM Smiths trying to sell me more products. (I am buying a new house which needs all its windows replacing: Smiths will NOT be getting that work). Despite each caller promising to look into my complaint and to call me back, none did so. I will now be complaining to the Glass and Glazing Federation (of which Smiths are allegedly "proud members") and FENSA.

Getting the quote was very easy a lovely man came to give us the quote very easy to chat to! The workers that put the lean too up were very nice had good laugh with them and they were very good at what they do! They even put in our doggy door that we bought separate and was going to put in when it was done. Three years on and still very happy with the work they did! Thank you very much!!
