Frustrating firm to deal with.
(1) The surveyor failed to spot that the doors we had chosen wouldn't fit and therefore had to keep going back and forth over the phone to try and sort. I am based in Surrey and they clearly didn't want to travel all that way to sort the doors out, so I had to do this over the phone.
(2) The doors that we've had installed are good and look smart, but the quality of the fitting is shoddy. For one door, a large amount of bricks and mortar from above the door were removed during installation, and then just covered up with plastic trim afterwards. The fitter assured me that he had filled it with foam, but has clearly lied here. As this is a structural issue, I will be taking it to trading standards for them to look at and take up. Smiths have not bothered to get in contact with me to look at this and rectify.
(3) The second door needs aligning. The surveyor measured inccorectly and there is not enough 'give' in the adjustment to compensate, therefore the door does not close properly unless it is more or less slammed shut. This is clearly no good, and therefore the door is not used. After a while of chasing, they came to adjust, but it needs adjusting again. Surprise surprise, they have yet to return any of my emails yet.
(4) I have had over 27 sales calls from them following the installation asking for further business. Every time I have stated that I am not interested but they keep harassing me with calls. When I was called last week, I was told by a salesman that he would look into this and call me back in 10 minutes. This never happened.

All in all, when it goes wrong they are really not interested, which is a shame. They are interested in more sales, before rectifying any issues and at least one of their fitters takes huge short-cuts with the quality of his work which can compromise safety. Due to Smiths not communicating with me, I have been forced to refer this to Trading Standards for them to investigate further. They are incredibly difficult to get hold of, so you're better off using a different firm who care a bit more about their customers and the quality of their workmanship.

Extremely pleased with the service from ordering to installation. My conservatory is perfect. It is well built and I know it will last the tests of British weather and family use for a great many years.
The installation team were great, not a shread of rubbish for me to clear. So clean and tidy. Would definitely recommend.

We had a conservatory built by Smiths and we are extremely satisfied with the end result. All the different construction teams involved were extremely friendly and very helpful. Particularly when it came to keeping our puppy out of the way and safe! The only minus would be that there were delays and it ended up taking quite a while longer than estimated but the quality of the final structure made it worth while.

"Door Installation"

I purchased front and back doors. Speaking of my experience with Smiths I can only praise both pre installation and actual installation. On all occasions the sales person, the designer and fitter all arrived at the agreed times. I was kept informed when an issue with quality led to a delay in installation and the product quality and install quality was very good and finish was perfect. Based on my experience I would recommend for doors without hesitation
