Gig Salad has a wonderful format. I receive lots of leads, and being able to book these clients is a extremely helpful boost for my work as a pianist. I have been on other sites in the past, but I get more leads and better leads with Gig Salad. Also, they keep their commission fees reasonable. When you answer a lead, you are given plenty of space to write comments, plus, you can send out a number of pictures. Having pictures is a must for getting jobs as a performer. I spoke to a wonderful young lady named Shannon. I spoke to her as an unpaid member. She explained every option as an unpaid member and the 2 different paid level members. She was interested in making sure that I had the information I needed to make an informed decision. At no time did she pressure me. She was patient and polite even when I ended the conversation thanking her and telling her I would take the information and make a decision soon. Within about a half hour, I called back and became a paid member. If not for her patients, attitude and politeness, I likely wouldn't have had the information I needed to become a paid member. For the holidays I booked a with a company to staff my event through Gigsalad. The company stated on their site someone will connect with me the day before the event to give me the 2 names of the staff who will work my event. They charged me $524. The day before my event I became nervous because no one fromthe company called. 5pm no one called. 8pm no one called. I got worried and was left to scrambled around looking for someone to work my event, having to over pay them more money because it was less than 24 hour notice. The day of my event at 12:52pm, less than 6 hours to my event the owner of the company i hired via GS calls saying he was confirming 2 staff for my party. What I did not mention, is that the hired company gave the wrong contact information on gigsalad. I had to apologize 3xs to another company, explaining to them that the number left GS was on that company's account. Needless to say, I told the guy who called me the day of my party, that the way his company does business was very unprofessional and I was forced to fill the position. I requested a full refund because he did not follow his own business policy. Gigsalad refused to refund me my full amount because they blamed me for canceling. I had to file fraud with my bank paying for a service not rendered. I would not do business with Gigsalad, they are not small business friendly and they do not vet other businesses on their site. Beware!

Signed up for a free account. Received a message from a potential client 1 day later. Sounded good, so I replied. Client decided to wait for really no good reason. I suspect, not sure, this "client" may have been from GigSalad. You know...entice me to upgrade.

Gigsalad is nothing more than a spin-off from Thumbtack. They talk a big game, but in the end, very poor results-in fact, no results. I signed up for the free account with the intent of eventually going to the paid account if I saw that jobs would be coming. Am I ever glad I didn't pay for the account. After months of being on I got 1 lead that wasn't even close to matching my description. After that there's been nothing. Upon contacting the company, all I get is "sorry, we've deleted your account." This is what you get when doing business with the younger generation who want your money but do nothing for it. I just hope nobody else falls into the trap of how good of a game they talk and spend money. It's not worth the hassle. Very poor company, even poorer employees, and a crap way to run a business. There was nothing like "let us look at your profile to see if we can improve", etc. from Gigsalad. Oh well. I've also had a friend who has paid for the account and guess what? They also haven't gotten anything. Don't waste your time. Interestingly, when I did get the email telling me my account has been deleted, I found it in the junk mail. Go figure.
