I originally bought Navigation Planner from Yachting Software, and recently upgraded to PC Plotter. Both programmes are excellent, easy to use and very good value. Gavin, the owner, has always been supportive and easy to contact when the need arises.

"Program is buggy"

Good help from CSR. The software itself has some significant bugs, which I am hoping will be corrected.

Specifically the program has issues with loading and saving waypoints, although the routes seem to load/save ok, except names are truncated when saving in Humminbird (.hwr) format. I reported these bugs several times to the CSR and even offered to send them my files, but the only response is "this has been around for twenty years and we haven't had any bugs reported".
Yachting Software seems to be more focused on denying that the program has bugs than in working to correct them.
7/8 update: So the developer decided to try to fix the waypoint loading bug. He asked me to "use the same link you used to download 7.25 to download 7.26". And so I did: Version 7.25 is still the current version, and I can only download it again if I buy it again. So I emailed him back. He responded, "I can't understand why you can't do simple things, many others have had no problem" and in the next email a few minutes later, "perhaps I gave you the wrong link, try this one" and a few minutes after THAT, "i would have been better off if I'd taken you off the update list"
Good to know they have the US equivalent of junior high in England. C- programming effort.

I've previously used Navigation Planner and recently updated to the newer version. For the modest cost incurred it does a great job. In particular the newer import and export of routes function which can be chosen to suit my specific chart-plotter is much more straightforward. Previously all the different files types were quite confusing.

The Navigation Planner and PC Plotter software use the same charts as your plotter, and take account of tides - with the ability to select optimum start time.
I should also add that phone or email support is excellent.
