"Apathetic Service, Had To Chase, Failed To Supply Goods"

I contacted Analogue Seduction regarding supplying some Audeze headphone parts (suspension headband, arms and pads).

AS worked out more expensive than Scan for the same parts, so I asked if they had any Black Friday offers on or were prepared to price-match.

They responded quickly; though with a slightly odd comment:
“We are not running any Black Friday deals, to be honest we disagree with the whole premise.”

In spite of this, a price match was offered, so great; I proceeded with the order.

The first problem was the failure of their payment gateway (with console/JS errors logged in the browser). I retried with PayPal, which went through okay. I notified them of the issue.

7 days pass and the order still shows as ‘In Progress’. I was prepared for a wait as I’m aware these companies must order-in items on demand, so that’s fine. I send a quick query on the order status that Friday, to which I receive a reply the following Monday:

“Your order is ready to go. Dekoni appear to have discontinued the sheepskin ear pad set for Audeze LCD. My warehouse tells me that every time we have ordered these over the past year they just send us through the Velour ones. Officially they have not discontinued them, that is why they are still on our website”

Now that logic seems a bit off to me; if you’ve been supplied the wrong item for an ENTIRE YEAR, wouldn’t you de-list that item from your site to avoid this exact situation?

I quickly responded with confirmation to remove the pads from the order. At this point if the “ready to go” order had arrived that week as implied, I’d be very happy, despite the loss of the pads.

Another couple of working days and no order update, confirmation of the amendment, or partial refund for the removed item. I send another message but see no reply. What exactly are they doing with my order at this point?

So finally today; 8 days after I’d been told my order was “ready to go” (and 17 days since payment), I call up. A pleasant man answers and I explain I’d like to query the order status.

It then becomes apparent that there are no notes attached to the order regarding any previous discussions (e.g. pads). I mention the pads being removed from the order, prompting him to give a different reason to the first (although both pass blame to the supplier). He also starts “checking stock”, which confuses me as I’d already been told my order was “ready to go”.

Now he tells me that the headband part was NOT in fact in stock and implied that Audeze have stopped making them (something, something, Sony's fault... etc). The fact that this was supposedly in-hand and ready to send out (yet somehow not) is obviously not explained by this, nor the responsibility of a third party; despite their attempt to make it so.

It was suggested that AS might be able to order-in an alternate version of the headband.

Naturally at this point I feel like my time has been completely wasted. I cancel the order.

The inflection of the man audibly changed to that of irritation, as I dispassionately explained that I'd now been given conflicting information and could have acquired the items from another source by now.

To be fair, the PayPal refund did come through quickly after that; hence a ⅖ score instead of ⅕.

The biggest problem is that if I’d not chased the status of the order (twice), it would presumably have just been stuck in limbo indefinitely, as AS have stated to be incapable of supplying two of the three items ordered (and seem to have known this for some time).

There was no proactive attempt on their part to resolve the problem they’d caused by listing these items in the first place.

"Nessie Stylus Inspection Magnifier"

I might be a sceptic but I wasn't expecting great things but this little (emphasise little) magnifier but it has proved excellent for viewing stylus condition. The built in light is ideal for showing up dirt build up and the results of gentle cleaning are easily see on a gleaming diamond point.
Well worth the money IMHO.

"The best storage boxes you’ll ever buy"

I wanted some storage boxes for my ever growing vinyl collection and came across the Oiled Oak boxes from Analogue Seduction so ordered a couple. Clearly this company cares! They were extremely well boxed and padded to ensure no in-transit damage. The boxes themselves are sturdy, look great and hold around 50 LPs comfortably. I then sold my old LP cases and now own six of these boxes. Every one is the same high quality and look superb in my music room.
