"5 star service before and during my two months using the service."

Even before arriving with a van load of furniture the attitude of the reception staff gave me confidence taking time to explain the process and tarrifs. Each and every time we came and went was always greeted with a warm welcome. Nothing was too much trouble. I would definitely use the facilities again and a very big thank you to your two lovely ladies managing the bookings and general help. I rate the facilities 4 star however the staff a full 5 stars … many thanks Graham.

"Poor service"

Poor service, and staff that don't seem to know what they are doing. We used the Maidstone location. We got a half price deal for 150ft storage.

We were told that if we gave 14 days notice during our period. We would get a pro rata balance refund. This makes perfect sense!

We gave 14 days notice on the 14th of Jan, (I have text message to prove it). We were stopping the period on the 26th Jan, 2024. I filled out the web form in the text message.

On the 26th Jan we while we were moving the stuff out, I was told there was a failed payment of £255.00 to pay. I explained that we are moving out. and i told George on the 14th. I was then told that i still needed to pay as 1 they didn't receive any notification and the payment still needs to be made. however, i would get a pro rata refund. I would also need to fill the form out again. However, the other guy stated that he was going to try and get me a larger refund due to their mistake.

We are now on the 16th Feb and no refund. I was told yesterday on that I wasn't intitled to a refund as the deal i had was half price. This is a Joke. Do these guy even know what they are doing? I feel ripped off.

£255 down and nothing to show for it.
Please learn from my mistake in choosing these guys!
Avoid at all costs.....because it will cost me. Also be aware they have a Rat & Rodent Problem! hundreds of traps on every floor.

Next stop trading standards!

"Beware misleading promotion and excessive charge"

I initially rented a storage unit for two months at a promotional rate. During the rental process, the staff assured me that I would only be charged for the days I used as long as I provided two weeks' notice for cancellation. After four weeks, I decided to cancel the rental as I no longer needed it. I promptly gave my two weeks' notice and cleared out the storage unit even before the notice period ended.

However, upon receiving the refund, I discovered that I was only refunded half of what I had paid for the month, as I had only used one week from the second month's rent. Despite reaching out via email, phone calls, and in-person visits to explain the situation, the branch's woman manager insisted that the amount refunded was correct. I mentioned that my wife, who had a larger unit than mine, was only charged £9 for the overrun days beyond her rental period. I questioned why I was charged around £10 a day for six days and not at the promotional rate (around £63 in total).

The manager explained that as I canceled the rental before the two-month rental period, they charged me the full price of the original rate. This explanation did not seem logical to me. When I called again and spoke to the other store manager, he said that I shouldn't even receive a refund as I canceled it before the promotional rent period ended. However, this was not mentioned to me during the sign-up process and was nowhere to be found in the contract I signed.

As I dealt with three different staff members from the same place and received three different answers for the same issue, I am disappointed with Storage King's service. I believe I was misled and unfairly charged by Storage King. I intend to escalate this issue to Trading Standards for investigation, as there seems to be ambiguity and lack of transparency in their operations, especially regarding promotional rental agreements. I suggest others beware and seek clear information before renting from this place.
*The issue had been resolved now.

"Very professional: highly recommended"

Renting a storage box at King's storage oxford was an excellent experience. The building is clean and easily accessible (close to a bus stop), the staff was helpful and cordial, the service very professional. The shop at the reception has all you need (boxes in various sizes, padlocks, tape) to store your belongings. The price is very reasonable and access to the facility is granted through a personalised code.

Highly recommended!

"So first of all they LOST a copy of my…"

So first of all they LOST a copy of my passport. Of course I am assured that it has since been located.. on a scrap piece of paper that was mis-filed. Because that inspires confidence....

The whole experience of setting up a unit was painful, not remotely professional and frankly they didn't seem to have half a clue between them, so much so I almost walked out and went elsewhere.

Of course the talking negatively about another customer who came and went while we was there and laughing about her infront of us was just the cherry on the cake.

Overall a disgusting experience and a less than positive experience on the phone just now with one of the guys there, hence this review.
Certainly wont be renewing that's for sure!

"Just be aware......"

I have been using storage king since last March.
The staff have been brilliant and supportive and any issues i have had they have helped me...i needed a second unit and that was sorted on the day of moving all my items into storage.

All went really well until I asked about reducing to one unit as really 2 were unnecessary.


Some of the problem has been my fault and i accept that but yesterday my relative was called....I had put them down as a contact as i was asked for another contact number....I havent any documentation that i can refer to.... but wasnt told why the contact number would be contacted if there was any other with issues.
So yesterday the other person was contacted to say that if my invoice wasnt paid ( it was overdue but i had been in contact with the office staff and was holding back as i have been trying to get a smaller unit etc for 3 months now and am no further forward...yes some of that was my doing but there was confusion about pay dates which werent reflected in the invoices) that head office would cut my locks off my units and then sell my goods to cover the cost....this person hadnt got the money so contacted another person to get it paid...so i feel quite unsettled by that.
The staff have been very supportive this isnt a go at them at all.....what bothers me is the procedure that was told would happen and caused the person contacted a huge amount of anxiety...and all this happened without me being contacted.

So really I just feel a little violated and out of control.

and I have been denied access to my lock ups which again I understand but again feel out of control and concerned .
I called Head Office but to be honest the person I spoke to lacked empathy and just quoted company shpeel......
