I am a software engineer who is changing career paths. While I have been exposed to much of the topics covered through the Data Engineer Academy (DEA), the course performs more of a deep dive into each, focusing on the key components required to become a data engineer. I am about 5 weeks into the program and I am being challenged every step of the way. The material is not easy, but I'm seasoned enough to know that learning comes in the midst of pain, so I'm pushing through the content at full speed.

It's encouraging to have people who are actually in the field as mentors. While a predominance of the material is self-paced, there are regular checkpoints and milestones to reach to keep you on track. There are also regular group breakout sessions to discuss specific topics and answer questions.

And if I'm completely honest, I had to really weigh the cost of the program with the expected outcome to determine if the expense was merited. After much research and multiple conversations with DEA representatives, I determined this was an investment in myself and my career.

I am fully confident that this program will provide me with the skills I need to jump in to the data engineering field. I'll update my review in a few months to see if everything is still meeting my expectations.
