We are a small building company (eight operators) and have been using HBXL products for about 15 months now
I can confidently say that EstimatorXpress has massively improved our ability to tender accurately for a huge variety of work, from small extensions right up to the complete renovation of a grade 2 listed building valued at £380k.
The quality of the product is very much complimented by the staff at HBXL HQ, who are always, always on hand to advise you should you be stuck on anything, or just to give you methods of improving your own efficiencies in how to get the most out of the software.
We’ve now progressed to using ContractsXpert and Health & SafetyXpert. We’re in the early stages of using these products, but we’re already impressed with the way they all run hand in hand.
So, to conclude; it’s a great product with a great team behind it all.

"Not builder friendly."

Don't buy this software thinking it's gonnas be easy to use as unless your an expert on computers your not going to find it easy. I'm a builder/roofer and was told by there staff before I spent £2k on plans xpress and estimator xpress how simple it was to use! As I do lots of refurbishment and restoration work the software is very difficult to use even a member of there staff struggled to find an item we were looking for but yet he claims it's fairly easy. The other problem is the bugs , on 3 occasions I'd spend around an hour each time doing a quote only for the software to crash and lose the quotes each time, hbxl response is that there changing things and moving from Microsoft excel, but they have sold me software knowingly to have issues rather than telling me to wait until they have it working smoothly.
The staff were friendly on the phone the first couple of times I needed to call then the last time I was met by a frustrated member of staff who didn't like me criticising there product, who has informed me that if I want to learn how to use the software I'd have to pay £49+vat an hour for training yet it was sold to me as easy to use. I've watched some of there tutorial videos and can certainly understand some bits fine but as for the more specialist jobs I do it's very hard to use and massively over complicated and like I said even a member of staff struggled and said his colleague who would know what to do was out to lunch but eventually he figured out how to find what we wanted but used a long complicated method.
Hbxl will obviously respond with a defensive comment but im telling you from a builders perspective that this software is not great unless your a dab hand on computers to start with.
Hbxl is-
very slow
Over complicated
Over priced
Buggy
And not builder friendly.
And if you buy it you'll be asked go pay to be taught how it works.
Price a job took me 10 mins to do a quote that I tried to do on estimator xpress and after a month still haven't managed to get it right.

Have been using HBXL estimator Xpress for over 10 years now. Have just downloaded latest version and v impressed with new clean look. So much more stable than previous version which was a big issue for me.
Like i said in previous review, I love the estimating software, the updates and support for the program.
It's been a great help with me estimating all my projects, big or small.
Yes, can be a bit daunting at first but stick with and it'll definitely help especially as there's lots of help over the phone or online.
