"Poor quality"

We rented a trailblazer in LasVegas to travel the national parks in UT. Due to covid there was no one around to show us the van. Which was fine until we noticed the tires were nearly bald and the windshield wiper was broken. The van was in poor physical condition with dents everywhere and we noted on the inspection. I reached out to the agent who was very responsive and gave timely response. She said the van had been serviced, but that was certainly not the case. When we arrived at our first destination it was dark so the next morning when we packing up and putting the tent down we noticed that one of the bolts was missing from the clasp that holds down the tent while driving. We took time out of our vacation to have the van serviced, a new windshield wiper put in it, fluids filled and a trip to the hardware store to fix the clasp so we wouldn’t take something or have it fly open while driving.
When we dropped off the van at the same place there was again no one there. The drop boxes for keys were both broken and obvious it was in a poor part of town with little up keep. I understand this is a more cost effective way to travel the country, but the quality of the van, cleanliness and lack of maintenance was unacceptable. The only positive was the responsiveness of the agent we worked with. We will be doing a similar trip in Washington this summer and due to this experience will be using a different company for sure!

"I booked with them last year before…"

I booked with them last year before Covid and had to cancel due to covid. I have tried to reach them for over a month to reschedule and couldn’t get ahold of anyone. When I emailed one final time and asked for my refund back I got an email within 10 minutes saying they don’t give refunds and they will no longer be a company in the United States.

"DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY"

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I booked with Jucy a few months ago but they had to cancel due to COVID. There was a small non-refundable portion in the cancelation policy, but after two months I still have not gotten any of the total refunded. I have tried calling and emailing many times but no one is responding. I have gotten no information on the status of this refund.

"Cancel but no refund"

How, I can't set 0 star... The company has cancelled my booking due to Covid-19 by sending me an email. I can't get any refund, They don't anwser to emails... We have booked with Jucy because we had a great experience in New Zealand but clearly, rules are not the same. Never pre-pay, never book on this company anymore.

"Jucy rentals risked my life"

Jucy rentals risked my life, stole thousands from me, costed me 5 days of my very expensive vacation from USA waiting for not one but two vans that never worked.

Van 1: 1.wouldn’t go over 40 up hill, we almost died on the highway, 2. no lights at all couldn’t cook, or see anything inside at all, 3. no working water, 4. no working fridge that costed us $400 in spoiled food. 5. No locking windows risking our valuables and safety (these windows open as you drive) , 6. not to mention they provide one working window in the entire condo, meaning your suffocating unless you sleep with your doors wide open for it to be “even more safe”! 7. The cushions smelled like poo and pee, with dark stains. 8. The engine was so hot the heat was burning us while we drove because you sit on an uninsulated van floor the entire time you’re driving. 9. The air con didn’t work but it blew out an awful odor to make things even more beautiful as we drove through smoke and dust that entered the car cause (drum rollllll) #9 the passenger window doesn’t roll up is completely off track and falls down as you drive! So not only were we being beat by engine heat with no air conditioning, we were inhaling smoke and dust the entire way because the windows can’t stay up on their own, and I only have two hands that can reach so far while my partner is driving. After calling 100 times and costing $250 in international phone calls and 4 days of our vacation... we got van #2. Prepare to be even more amazed!

Van #2
Finally we get the second van... they make us clean the first one🤣, as if 4 days of our vacation wasn’t enough wasted time, and I beg and plea for one with two working windows so we can safely sleep. They don’t have any with two working windows so already off to a great start. We go to the nearest Campervan park and pay $60 for a camping spot we got to use 2 hours before realizing all of our new groceries are expiring, the fridge is again not working, we mentioned before leaving the Jucy facility that there were no running lights in our fridge and we were concerned as we had a lot of expensive food. They assure us “the lights are just broken and they tested the fridge so just go plug in at your camp and it will cool down” two hours later our food is hot and spoiled again. $600 in groceries and counting.... we call no help from the customer support so I leave my brand new paid for camp spot (another $60 down the drain) to drive back to Jucy (my new home). Upon my arrival I start to explain that once again the van doesn’t work properly and the French woman working the front desk decides to scream in my face “were closed can’t help you please leave” and as I try to reply she screams “we’re closed” luckily a nice French man who works in the back came to help us. We found that the wires for the fridge had been completely ripped out and stripped from the electric connector in the back of the fridge. Wow that’s some great “testing” your company did before sending me off in another broken van. They checked the van after office hours because I refused to leave, turns out the fridge is broken and the repair man isn’t available on weekends.. it’s Friday..
After packing up two coolers of spoiled food and we will not have anywhere to stand in our van till tomorrow morning when they open and allow us to return this unsafe and not working van, and I will be asking for a full refund and lost money due to their negligence and my vacation time. They charged me $2000 to sit in Jucy parking lots for 5 days without a working van. And a $5000 deposit for a van not even worth $1500.

I spent $150 a day for 5 days to hang out in Jucy parking lots in broken vans, and on .25 cent a min calls with their company begging for a refund and to return their awful vehicle. I wasted thousands in flights for this vacation, I’ve wasted $1000 more in changing flights because a week of our trip was completely lost to broken vans and horrible customer service.

I’m already in contact with an Australian consumer laws lawyer. I will spend all of the money I brought for this trip on a lawyer to have justice for the, loss of use, loss of vacation, financial waste, emotional distress and heartbreak this company has caused me.
You will be hearing from me till this gets resolved Jucy. I will make sure you can’t do this to more innocent vacationers. May your day be as bad as the 5 I’ve spent with your vans.

"I rented a Jucy Trailblazer on October…"

I rented a Jucy Trailblazer on October 25th from the Oakland location. I wanted to drive all the way to Death Valley National Park which is around 400 miles away and therefore got the unlimited mile package. I was shown the car and given a short walkthrough but was told nothing about the car being in bad condition.
I had some minor trouble with the car as soon as I got it. The car would vibrate a lot whenever I would break, the left rear door would not open every time, and the driving experience was not great. But, we were already on the road and it was an inconvenience but was not unsafe.
On the way back, however, I was doing 60 miles an hour (speed limit was 65) and suddenly I lost control of the car. There was a truck right next to me and I was inches from hitting the truck and at those high speeds, it would have been deadly. Somehow I managed to control the car and stopped on the shoulder of the highway. The tire was completely destroyed. It was not a flat tire. (see images attached). The threads completely came off and there was no salvaging the tire at all. The impact of the tire exploding was so much that the side bumper and the back bumper were damaged. After numerous calls to the Jucy helpline, we finally managed to get someone to reach out to roadside assistance since I had insured the car and had access to that service. AAA showed up and put on the spare tire for us. His recommendation was that we do not drive more than 100 miles with the spare and we were 350 miles away from Oakland. At least 3 Jucy customer service agents told us that we should drive the whole 350 miles even though it was not recommended. They did not give us any options. They would not let us drop the car off someplace else, they refused to pay for a new tire and they refused to help us find a solution. Finally, after repeated calls and frantic explanations, one customer agent agreed that it was indeed my right to ask Jucy to pay for a new tire and agreed to reimburse me for the cost.
We managed to drive another 70 odd miles to the one shop that was open on a Sunday and got a new tire installed. Both the mechanic that installed the Tire and the AAA agent personally told us that the tires look old and worn out. He said it was disastrous and very very dangerous for us if we decided to drive the whole way with a spare, which is what the Jucy staff initially recommended we do. In fact, he inspected the other rear tire and said it would not be safe to drive for very long on this tire and asked us to be safer and drive slower. A few hours later when I wanted to refuel, I noticed that the tire exploding had caused damage to the fuel pipe. The cap had come off and the pipe was dangling and I was unable to fuel the car as gas was not going in at all. Somehow, I managed to fill enough gas I needed to get back to the drop-off. But I was very scared that it could cause a leak and could cause a fire in the vehicle.
The next day I get a call from the Jucy team based in Oakland telling me that I owe Jucy money for the damage that was caused to the car. Instead of apologizing for me almost having lost my life, I was being asked to pay money to fix the problem that existed in the car in the first place? Also, I was told that the fuel was not completely full. After all the horrible experience that I went through, instead of compensating me for my trouble, I'm being asked to pay? Not only do I demand that Jucy take care of all the damage that their worn-out tire caused, but I also demand that Jucy compensate me for all the pain I went through and the fact that I along with 3 other people almost lost their lives because of the old and under-serviced cars that Jucy operates with. If, however, Jucy does not want to cooperate, I will and make no mistake about this, I will take legal action against Jucy so that nobody else has to go through the same thing I went through.

"Do not book at Jucy"

Do not book at Jucy. We rented a Dodge Trailblazer in San Francisco (actually somewhere in nowhere around Oakland) and the van was in the worst possible and imaginable condition! The brakes were completely worn out, the tires had no profile left, it smelled like pee and smoke inside, the car had 200.000 miles... No way to take that car to Death Valley!
The people at the station itself our totally not service orientated. We were yelled at and finally ignored, as we didn`t want to accept that car. No different car was available. The didn't want to refund it - was a hard thing to get my money back. A "never ever again" experience. 1 star is too much.

"Jucy RV? Never again, it‘s scam!"

So first of all the car itself was old, already had more than 176,000 miles and you could feel that.
But the main reason why we shouldn‘t book with Jucy RV was this:

When we gave back the car in Los Angeles, we were told that everything would be fine, the balance was 0.00 USD. Everything was set, we didn‘t owe Jucy anything.

But now, at least 30 days after drop-off in LA I noticed that Jucy RV charged me 35.90 USD. Just out of nowhere, without giving me any information me about that, neither sending a bill or something like that. They didn‘t even had my permission as they shouldn‘t even have my credit card details left! I consider this as criminal!

I already sent them two e-mails but never received a single word as a response. I don‘t think Jucy RV will tell me why they feel like they would have the right to charge me whatever they want nor will they credit me back the money. It is such a shame and I can only recommend to leave this company out when looking for a rental car.

It might not be a big amount of money, but the way how Jucy RV reacts and deals (or better say how they not react) is scam und such a pity!

Jucy RV? Never again!

"The ultimate US road trip ruined by an incompetent company, that may put you in danger, because it's cheaper that way."

We decided to rent a Jucy campervan to travel from LA to Las Vegas and then a second van from Las Vegas to San Francisco. Jucy looked fun and were very helpful before our trip sorting out our dates. We were excited.

We picked up our van in LA. There was nobody around. We had to nip around the back and speak to a mechanic to get somebody to open the office. The woman who eventually appeared seemed like she didn't want to be there. But we got shown the basics and headed on our way.

We stopped for food less than an hour later and my daughter noticed the handle to crank up the top, which should have been in the glove box, was hanging off the side of the van and had been so ever since LA. None of us had put it there.

We discovered the top of the van was very sandy and the campervan in general had not been cleaned properly. There was a large crack low down on the windscreen that was there from the start, and indeed our second, and different van, had the same. This made my wife feel very uncomfortable as we didn't know if the windscreen would suddenly crack and give way. There was also a large piece of trim missing from the side of the van.

But we kept going until the engine light kept coming on after a few days and the drive became quite shaky. Eventually we had to stop and call Jucy. It took a long time to get through but they told us we would have to wait for a breakdown truck. We were out in the middle of nowhere!

The breakdown man put us on the back of his lorry and we all sat in side as he took us to the nearest garage. Unfortunately when we got there it was shut. I was amazed that Jucy didn't check this or find somewhere that was open. The pick-up man left is on a garage forecourt in a small town in the late afternoon. I phoned Jucy again and explained the situation. They wanted us just to park in the street, open up the top, and leave our kids up there in basically a small tent at head height for passers by until the morning. It wasn't a great neighbourhood and across the street, two men were sitting on the pavement. I called them back and told them we weren't going to overnight there. After much pressure they said they'd phone around the local inns. They found us one but told us we'd have to pay and then claim back.

The garage fixed our van the next morning. Jucy managed to pay that by card but strangely not our accomodation! It was two dodgy spark plugs at fault that the engineer said should have been changed a lot time ago. This appears to be how Jucy runs its fleet of campervans. No maintenance, but just fix it when it breaks down. Who cares if our customers are inconvenienced. We lost a day of travel and missed our next stop, as everything was planned for weeks ahead. I phoned Jucy, because they never ever bothered to phone me. Not once!

I was understandably angry with the man on the phone, who seemed more concerned with my annoyance than sorting anything out. I complained about the safety aspects of the company, its negligence and its total abandonment of us in the middle of nowhere.

I should say this man was in New Zealand. Jucy don't have dedicated US customer service so you may well find your call being answered by somebody from the other side of the planet. He was useless.

But we got to Las Vegas in the end and dropped off our van. Two days later we picked up another van from there, again with a crack on the windscreen. This one seemed newer but with a much less powerful engine. We wanted to watch the DVD player one night, even bought some DVDs, only to find that it didn't work. The kids were disappointed. We got to San Francisco with no other major issues.

Jucy have only made one effort to contact me. Not to apologise but to tell us off as below:

"hey guys FYI, vehicle was left very dirty and you went over your miles by $16, which i did not charge, but please for future rental make sure vehicle is clean right now its our high season we need to have vehicles ready as soon as possible and it takes at least 2hr 2 people to clean this vehicles"

This really annoyed me. Our first van was dirty when we picked it up. We cleaned our second as best we could but were driving through a number of national parks and camping, so it was going to get a bit dirty.

As I said, Jucy never called me back. They only emailed me once, despite my frequent requests for them to do so, and that was to tell us off and not apologise.

I am concerned about the safety of their vans and their poor maintenance. I know they will just leave you on your own when you break down, and are happy for you and your family to camp out in the street in a strange town just off the motorway. They don't care. They won't phone you back. They don't say sorry. You talk compensation, but they just ignore you. They seem fun but they will take the fun out of your ultimate family holiday. Just avoid!

"Great Experience"

Great Experience. Awesome staff. Van extremely clean. Amazing trip. No problems. And when you are vacationing far away from home, and at times far away from help, even the littlest problem can quickly snowball into a vacation spoiler.
