I looked at several Survey tools and chose Sparrow. Easy to use great interface, useful analytics and reporting. Made the job very easy.

"generous free version, helped me out"

I needed to send a survey to ~20 people on a community platform to ask about how they felt about the state of things. it's a small community, and we don't have any money, per se, so I appreciated the generous free version that they offer.

the platform has many types of questions to get all the answers you could want. I was impressed with the depth of the conditional logic features. while I didn't need to do anything too advanced, I messed around with it a bit for a couple of questions and could tell it could do anything you need it to (other than grouping boolean logic, as far as I could tell, but maybe why are you doing that in an online survey?).

another nice feature was the ability to "seed" a question from the answers of a previous question. I used this to ask people for answers in a multi-select, then to rank their choices.

took off a star because now that my free trial has ended, it seems like I'm going to have to jump through some hoops to stay on the free version. it presents a paywall, and going the "cancel account > too expensive > stay on free version" route leads to an error, so would have to contact support I guess.

they also have a 10 question maximum, which when I started I thought would be no problem. I thin all of the options just gave me ideas of things to try, which you can't really fault them for giving me ideas! and I did have some wasted questions from the select / rank ones. I think that if you used them effectively, you could get a lot done with 10 questions included the free version.

in the end, I didn't actually end up needing the survey, although I did collect a few responses and could tell that even the free sporting was more than enough to get the info that I needed from the survey.

will definitely come back should I need to send create another survey...provided this free version thing works out 😏
