"The Amstar driver did not show up for…"

The Amstar driver did not show up for pick to the airport at Grand Riviera Princess hotel in Playa del Carmen. Our vacation tour was from Cheap Caribbean and they chose this roundtrip transportation for us. I read bad reviews about this company but gave them the benefit of the doubt. Reviews say they either not show up or come super late. We took a taxi to the airport and we almost missed our flight. We paid in advance for nothing.

I was with an Amstar rep at the hotel who was told that the pick up came already with a lot of people to get from the lobby. How can that be when we were already waiting before the pick up time. We kept on asking the hotel staff and they said no Amstar driver was ever there!!

This trip was very relaxing and fun for us until this stressful moment.

You might want to consider other service companies!

"Pick another tour agent!"

Booked an Jeep excursion to Cozumel through Apple Vacations prior to leaving. When we arrived, they told us it was no longer available but they would give us a buggy. No offer to reduce the price or any sort of offer due to the circumstances. They were also unhelpful in canceling it and getting our money back. We were told it will take months for the refund after a couple phone calls and a lot of wasted time. Pick another company to book excursions through!

"Amstar Transportation is Not Trustworthy. Dishonest Business Practices"

On July 21,2021 my Husband and I were due to leave Secrets Resort, los Cabos and travel back home to New York.
My Husband met with an Amstar representative 2 days into our vacation to receive our information for pick up time from our Resort to the Airport that would take place 5 days later.
The representative e mailed my Husband the time for pick up for an 11 pm flight, but the dilemma is that she gave my husband outdated information. The Flight itinerary changed in May and mind you we traveled in July.
So, as you guessed it, my Husband and I nearly missed our Flight, because of the incorrect information that was given to us by the Amstar representative. We had to spend an additional 55.00 for a Taxi to get us to the airport in time for our flight.
To say the least, we were very disappointed. Thank God, We returned to home safely and made Unlimited Vacation Club aware of the incident, who contacted Amstar and made them aware of the issue. Basically, my Husband and I just wanted our Monies refunded for the return portion of the transport that was NOT provided.
Amstar Transportation and Unlimited Vacation Club to date have refused to refund us our Money. This is terrible business practice and shows us that neither Company is stand up or honest.
Anyone can make mistakes, and that we can forgive, but a business that does not do right by their Customers is disheartening and will eventually lead them to failure.
We would Never refer either of these companies to anyone, because they are Dishonest.
Thank God, our time will be up with UVC in a few years and we will Not be Renewing our contract.
Any Company dealing with Amstar is Not an honorable business.
SHAME ON AMSTAR AND UVC.

"I am going to Rivera maya Cancun for 13…"

I am going to Rivera maya Cancun for 13 times in same hotel Barcelo Maya palace ! I like that place very much all Stuff’s are super nice and working hard I never had problem!!! Last time one person was super nice to me and did great job was Ariana Rodriguez! She did great changes! Thanks 🙏 to Ariana and other people working hard in that hotel !!! That resort is healing place for me. Try it you won’t regret!!!!

"HORRIBLE!!"

HORRIBLE!!! All they care about is your money. They booked an excursion for part of our group with no transportation to and from, the taxi they arranged to pick them up left them at the wrong place, then no ride back from the excursion. Absolutely horrible do not use them they only care about your money!!

"DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY"

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! The sevice from Amstar was absolutely horrendous beginning with the Airport pick up. It was miserable waiting outside with 0 organization of who gets on what van. The van was packed like sardines. We had already pre paid for our transfer back or I wouldn't have used them again. When I went to leave Cancun, I arrived 5 min before our scheduled departure time at 4:45 AM (what the conformation asked us to do). Come to find out, the bus had left at 4:25 AM according to an acquaintance that was on it, 20 minutes before it was scheduled to leave. They told her another one would come get me and this one was full and needed to leave now. They marked me as a "no show" according to the bellman and then wouldn't answer their phone when he tried to call them. He had to call me a taxi that I obviously had to pay for after already paying for my transfer to the airport with Amstar. I have emailed them over 20x since June 1st including the day of the incident so they could call the hotel and verify with the bellman who assisted me that I was not late and did indeed show up for my transfer. I have demanded my money back several times and they have sent me falsified time stamped photos saying the bus waited for me until 454 am which is false because I knew someone on that bus and they were long gone. There was not a soul in the lobby at 4:40 AM. They also hang up on me when I try to call and explain the situation. I would NEVER use this company again or recommend it to any of my friends and family. They have quite literally stolen my money because they took it and did not provide the service in return. DO NOT USE AMSTAR!

"Excursion cancelled - no refund"

We booked two excursions with Natalie from Amstar at Majestic Mirage Hotel and paid 656$. The first excursion had to be changed from VIP to normal because of the day we could go, so Natalie refunded us 90$. Because she couldn't do the refund directly she had to do it via the bank and I got the refund a few days later. The second excursion nobody came to pick us up because they hadn't noted the right day! We went to Natalie, who apologized for the error and assured us we would be reimbursed the excursion price (328$ !!) within 10 working days via the bank. She filled out a form that I signed. This was on March 2nd 2021 and I still haven't received anything yet. I have contacted them by all possible ways, but never receive a reply, except to "wait as the case will be processed". I would not recommend booking with them at all. It's bad enough that the tour was cancelled, but having to fight for months to get a refund when you come back from holiday is just infuriating.

"Avoid, Unreliable and Unprofessional"

Amstar has ruined our trip to Cancun for us. They failed to provide a transfer from Cancun to the airport that I paid for in advance and I spent an hour at the airport after a 12 hour flight trying to make alternative arrangements. Looks like it was miscommunication between them and the taxi company they used (Holiday Taxis). Their representative promised me a refund (clearly to appease us while we were at the resort). When we left, their very unhelpful representative Ismael Duran replied to a refund request I sent to their posttravel email address, saying that Amstar has now changed its mind about the refund and has marked me as a no show. He made up completely nonsensical excuses about having checked GPS tracking for the taxi (which was not provided) and at one point when I requested to speak to his manager, lied to me about being his own manager. Then stopped replying to my emails when I called him out. Would never use a company with such disdain for its customers ever again.

"Avoid booking with Alex at Bavaro…"

Avoid booking with Alex at Bavaro Princess. He lied to us about the excursion we would be doing. We were told we were paying for a private charter fishing excursion for 8 hours. When we arrived we were placed on a boat with multiple people and was told the trip was 4 hours. We did not complete the excursion, left and went back to the resort to talk to Alex. He was rude and told us that we shouldn't have left the excursion. We asked for our money back and was told that we could not have a refund. We asked to speak to a manager. Manager Sifredo was extremely rude on the phone and told us that Alex did not lie to us. He said "It's a shame that you're spending your money and do not know what you're spending your money on." Absolutely horrible customer service. All 4 of us were sitting with Alex on 4/12/19 when the excursion was booked. All 4 of us heard and understood one thing while Alex tried to back track and say that we lied. It definitely was not a language barrier. He speaks English. Avoid Amstar at all cost. Generally the better priced excursions are the ones offered at the hunts along the pool at the beach.

"Me and my husband went to Jamaica and…"

Me and my husband went to Jamaica and we met this wonderful women named Trecia who works for Amstar and she booked our excursions and our pick up for our trip back to the airport and was very professional and friendly she greeted us with a smile and was very helpful my experience with her and Amstar was excellent 😁
