"A contrary form of saving money in 2024"
I have 2 accounts with this business. One is about to mature, the other has a couple of quid in it, so I opened a higher interest rate so that I could transfer my money on maturity. It turns out, you can only pay in £250 a month. A month? In 2024? A £1000 maybe but what is £250 in today's cost of living?
So, I thought, I could put the rest into the empty account for a 'month' then move it into the higher rate account? No. Because you can only withdraw and not pay in!!
So I've asked CBS, what's supposed to happen to the rest of the money, when the account matures? I'm waiting for a reply.
If CBS focused more on what I would class as basic transfers and withdrawals on savings, instead of 20 different types of passwords, text codes and overlayered security, then customers just be able to get on without the unnecessary headache.

I went into the Sheffield branch today. What a joyous experience. They were so kind, particularly Carol and nothing was too much trouble. I would definitely recommend Coventry whose interest rates are very good.

The staff are always very helpful, friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. It’s a real pleasure visiting the branch and am always made to feel welcome and valued. I regularly pop into the branch. On this occasion I opened an account with Bethan who is credit to Coventry Building Society.

I’m an Man of limited technical ability and Coventry Building Society Online regular Saver account has a very good interest rate, but they take your security very seriously, l’ had a few issues because I was mixing up some of my security codes. I spoke to a Hanna a Very patient polite young lady who helped: walk me through everything, she made me feel it was a pleasure to help me understand everything about the security of the system and the one we had gone over things together, it was obvious how their system could protect their members. Coventry you are fortunate with such staff a Hanna! J. D.

I needed to sort out my monthly interest payment that had been returned by my bank (not the fault of Coventry)and it was impossible to do it on the phone due to the antiquated grid card grrr! but I went into Sheffield branch and have to say the staff I dealt with were 5 star.
Special mention for Brooke and Richard who together sorted out the problem in minutes and next day everything was back to normal.
This proves to me branches are vital to customers and all the internet/phone banking is not as good

Adele in the Solihull branch was very helpful today, we took out 4 separate accounts and changed another. She was very patient and walked us through each step of the accounts.

Jack the branch manager switched our ISAs from Privilege to Four Access today. The process was very easy, he explained everything clearly and we now get more interest! I've been saving with the Coventry for nearly 50 years so they must be doing something right!
Also it makes a lovely change to actually go in to a branch rather than doing impersonal on line banking.

"The benefit of a branch with responsive and helpful staff"
It was really useful to physically go to the branch and get face to face advice today. I was also able to call the branch directly and ask questions to prepare the right documents before coming in. Preet recognised the fact that she had spoken to me earlier and that was reassuring. It felt as though the staff there were skilful and knowledgeable.
This was a very positive experience compared to what often occurs with larger high street banks - both in terms of being able to speak to a human being on the phone rather than getting lost in a maddening labrynth of an 'interactive response phone system' with preset or limited options or being faced with no support in branch as skilled personnel have not only been reduced but also work from home.
So far very happy to have opened accounts here.
