"I have just got back into fitness after 30 years due to ill health and diabetes, and with autistic sons I wanted a hobby we could all do.

Thirty years ago for a short time I did Aikedo, and Shotakan Karate (because that was the first school I found, no other reason).

Having watched many you-tube videos I decided to buy a BO staff and googled shops, I was fortunate to find MartialArtsShop.co.uk, Martial Arts shop Limited West Midlands.

Not knowing what I needed and being a new customer I was given superb service and advice, they gave me the most important thing, TIME, along with genuine advice and never tried to sell me anything I did not need.

As a retired (still working) father every penny counts

I can not recommend this company enough for the beginners in Martial arts and other sports equipment."

The worst online shopping experience in all my life!

Order confirmed, the day after I received an email that escrima sticks are out of stock and I could choose the other ones. I chose, they refunded the difference, the day after (guess what?!) I receive another email that they're out of stock too! Ok, cancel that, send me the rest, please. Refund promised.

I unpacked the parcel to find out that instead of black wooden tanto there is a red one (invoice in the parcel states that the tanto is black and there is handwritten tick next to it). Contacted them again, I received apologies for "human error" and request to send it back. The tanto was used already as I needed it for my class and it had my initials at the end of it. They decided that I can keep it and they sent me the black one free of charge. That was the only nice thing of them.

Now... The refund...
Contacted them after 3 working days that refund is not in my account. Received and answer to wait for 5 working days. Waited, with no luck... After a week emailed them again, explaining that I received the first refund with no problem but the 2nd one is not there after more than a week. Again, apologies and that refund "is processed now"!

I made the order on 5th June and just today, 17th June, I could say that I received all the refunds for the stuff they didn't have in stock but I was charged for it.

If you have time and patience, by all means, use their service. For me, personally, that was first and last time I did shopping there.

"What a complete hoax!"

What a complete hoax!! Ordered a karate uniform – order confirmed and even processed and reported ready for shipment. Then I had a message that it was out of stock (but on stock in smaller and bigger sizes) – and no resupply date. Ok – that happens. We decided to cancel – and was offered a discount of £5 on next order.

Next order – same size – but different model. Same procedure – order confirmed – and reported ready for shipping – and then again – SOLD OUT – no resupply date.

Reading the reviews here it seems like a general pattern – and I would not recommend anyone throwing their money at this shop as they are clearly issues that could result in a financial loss for any client.

"Brilliant Service"

Having tried a few places on line for some shin guards and getting terrible service from all of them I eventually found martial arts shop. They were prompt in e mail communications and actually answered the phone when I called. When I did speak to someone they were professional, informed and I actually believed they knew what they were talking about. I did have to return an item (my own fault ordering wrong size) and their returns process is easy and FREE!!!! They will definately be the first place I visit when buying fight equipment in the future....

I ordered a taekwondo uniform the adiflex 2 dobok. They accepted the sale even though they had none in stock. I now have to wait for a refund to get another, having messed my instructor around telling him not to get me one and that I arranged to get my club logo sewn on. Why accept a sale if you have none? And you took the payment after the email about cancelling.

"Great customer service"

Great customer service. You can judge a company by how it fixes issues just as much as you can by any other means.
I ordered a 4ft jo and got delivered a 6ft bo by mistake. My initial order was placed on a Sunday and I received the wrong item on a Tuesday. I emailed them on the Tuesday evening and spoke to them on the Wednesday. They offered a few options and I ended up getting a replacement sent out that I received on the Thursday. When I noticed the initial mistake I has visions of it dragging on for around a week but the resolution couldn't have been quicker or easier. I will definitely be buying from them again for anything I might need in the future.

"very slow dispatch and a customer service that doesn't want to help"

I ordered a karate Gi on Monday afternoon, and despite no warning of this on the website, it wasn't dispatched until Wednesday afternoon. Didn't arrive until Friday. Despite several emails to customer services about the issue, no attempt was made to speed things up or answer my questions about the postage that had been used (first or second class), so I could estimate when it might arrive. All I kept getting were unhelpful emails directing me to their delivery page. As this did not have the info I needed it was very frustrating. The Gi arrived too late, and had I known how long they take to dispatch I would have ordered elsewhere. Also be warned that even of you don't decide to set up an account, once you've checked out you'll get an email telling you that one has been set up for you! I found this to be unacceptable interference.
