"A Definite Five-Star rating"

We relocated to our new home without any hustle and bustle. The professional and splendid services of Nationwide Moving and Storage LLC were spellbinding. The transit issues were catered by them exceptionally well—a definite five-star rating from our end.

"We used this company to move my father…"

We used this company to move my father in law from assisted living in Fl to PA. Our experience to date has been horrific. The company that picked up the belongings was extremely unprofessional, significantly increased our estimate, screamed at us and threatened to leave and not take the merchandise. A month later, my father in law is in assisted living without any of his belongings with the exception of the suitcase he took on the airplane. We have called multiple times and no one can confirm when the truck will be delivered. I would highly recommend that you look elsewhere as this is the worse customer service I have ever experienced.

"Traumatic Experience DO NOT USE - see details below"

We moved our family of six and 6+ bedroom home from California to Pennsylvania. We first interacted with Nationwide in late 2021 for a June 2022 move. We compared driving ourselves with a Uhaul ($9500 just for one truck alone before gas etc etc), getting a truck where we load it ourselves and they drive across country (est. $12000) and this moving company... Nationwide.

The first estimate from Nationwide based on my communication of items was approx. $8,000. We paid deposit to secure the transaction after I double checked that the company was legitimate. I was told they are not a broker which increased my confidence. I assumed the price would go up once we had a more accurate list of boxes etc but figured the level of service with a moving company plus 30 days free storage would be really helpful.

One week before move Nationwide called and I updated actual boxes, sizes and all items to move. Price jumped to $14,000+ due to increase in square footage of our now-packed boxes and increase in fuel surcharge (11% of total). I was shocked but understand this is a calculation based on the increase in boxes we had. We were required to up our deposit to total $5,005.83.

Day of move a company turned up with TWO U-HAUL trucks and three young men. However, It was a different company and I was informed that Nationwide were in fact a broker and this new company was contracted to move our goods across the country. I was to pay them the balance directly. This raised my anxiety but I was now fully packed with family waiting to leave and I had already paid a deposit of $5k.

Next the new company (Movers and Packers Relocation Specialists, NJ) assessed quantity differently - from how much of the truck space we used, not how much items/boxes/sq.foot we supplied to Nationwide. Movers told me to check the UHaul trucks website to see the square footage and proceeded to fill up both trucks.

Movers then said it was 3,000 sq.feet and the price was now $22,000!!!

I disagreed saying that I checked the Uhaul website and the stated area was 1682 sq.ft plus 1016 sq.foot = 2698 sq.foot. Movers very unhappy saying that we pay for the space including what we don't use. I said, then it should be LESS than 2698 sq.foot. The two young men who packed the trucks looked like they were doing it for the first time and had not packed the truck very well (LOTS of spare space above our boxes etc). I refused to sign the contract. Movers was not happy and called his office. He came back and adjusted the sq.footage from 3000 down to 2716 (he rounded the bigger truck UP to 1700 sq.foot). This reduced the cost by a couple thousand dollars now totaling $20,638.44 and my family had been waiting for us to leave for three hours.

I was informed that these two trucks would go to a depot and our goods put on a bigger truck to travel across the country to another depot (New Jersey) then delivered to us in the same way it was collected.

We then drove across the country hoping our goods would be ok and nervously wondering if there would be any other surprises.

Our search for a new home took longer than planned so we informed Movers on June 27 of our new delivery location and first available date to move being July 29. In my email I communicated that we would need extra storage and was informed this would cost 40c per cubic foot. I had no other choice.

Two days before our move I called Movers asking about delivery. Movers said they saw my name and address on the board for that date but no actual delivery date yet. They stated that they had 30 days to deliver our goods from the first stated available move in day. This was a shock and difficult to communicate to my family who had been living from a suitcase for the previous month and a half. I asked Movers when we would know delivery date. Movers said again they have 30 days and will call two days before they move in. I pushed for more information trying to at least know a timeframe so that we could plan. Movers said they would talk to dispatch and get back to me.

Thus started a very poor experience with Movers: misinformation, lack of follow through, mixed messages and finally a call from me to Nationwide to get help.

Nationwide was helpful and apologetic and said they would contact Movers on my behalf and sort out the storage (30 days would result in another months payment) and get more information. Nationwide called me back one hour later confirming the above and that they would deliver within a week or I could negotiate to pickup my own goods (we are about 1.5hrs from depot). Nationwide said that Movers would call me within in the hour. Nationwide also said to keep them informed.

"Pick ANY other movers - BEWARE"

To say I’d give Nationwide Moving and Storage along with Shelby Brothers Moving and Storage a negative star if I could, would be putting things lightly. As soon as the contract was signed, there have been nothing but issues dealing with both of these companies with little to no response. From missed pick up deadlines, some of the rudest customer service reps and delivery people I’ve ever dealt with, disregard for any kind of call back or follow up, the difficulty of speaking to a manager that would take accountability for their shortcomings (both Nationwide and Shelby - neither happened), broken items, and smashed boxes. Madison, Alex, Matthew, and Ciera from Nationwide were anything less than helpful (especially Matthew and their manager, Ciera). Shelby Brothers Moving, Jasmine and her reps, had no resolutions to offer for all of the issues. Rustam with the delivery truck was a very unpleasant person and so rude (even the storage company employees commented on how rude he was). If you’re considering using either of these companies for a move, I advise you to reconsider.

"I had great service from the intake and followup"

I had great service from the intake person Michael Robinson and then had an issue with the trucking company and David Spears was a true blessing. The people that work there made my move wonderful. The trucking company, NOT SO MUCH!
