De Vere have been extremely professional throughout all meetings, providing clear and helpful financial guidance for myself and my husband. No question is too small and our advisor, Seb, has went out of his way to help us know what to do with our money to provide us with more security. "Consolidated my Pensions with deVere"

Consolidated my Pensions with deVere some 8 years ago, whilst working in the Middle East. Having now retired and living in China, deVere have continued to manage my Scheme with consistent professionalism, with regular reviews and product information. With a dedicated Manager, any queries or concerns have been quickly and efficiently dealt with either by phone, email or social media.

"My advisor was only interested in earning for himself"

My advisor hasn't contacted me in 18 months. I believe this is because he no longer sees opportunity to make money from me.

Other issues with this advisor have included:
-4 transactions were executed without my knowledge or authorisation. I only discovered the transactions had been made through the DeVere app.

-When I raised the above issue with my advisor, he suggested we meet 2 weeks hence. In my opinion an issue of unauthorised transactions (which is illegal) should have taken priority and a 2 week delay did not suggest a great deal of urgency.

-When a policy matured I was not advised that I could continue with it. Furthermore, the surrender process was started before it had reached a level that we had agreed would be a threshold for surrender.

-I was sold a 5 year policy; the first 18 months of which have very high fees that exceed any gains the policy made. It was only on year 3 that it had recovered from the losses of the first 18 months, leaving only 2 years to make any gains.

-At my last meeting with my advisor I asked for certain funds, that have high fees, be transferred to something that would at least not *lose* money on fees. I have yet to hear back after a year and a half.

My opinion of my particular advisor at DeVere Shanghai is that his priority is to earn money for himself. If a client is interested in buying new funds he'll sell whatever will earn him the highest commission and if there is no opportunity to earn he rapidly loses interest. There is a lot of talk of looking after the client but that has not been my experience.

"The main challenge with all Devere…"

The main challenge with all Devere advisers is it is difficult to keep them interested in my portfolio. They are mainly focused on selling and not on expanding my wealth. It requires a number of requests (higher than 2) to get things done. Once they are engaged they do resolve quickly, which would indicate to me that the challenges are not very big.

I have a Providence Compass savings plan, Ardan Platform, Unisure Life Insurance, RL360 LifePlan, deVere Investment Platform, deVere Catalyst, deVere Vault and deVere Crypto accounts with the deVere Group. I have also invested in property via deVere, and will be completing on a 2nd property with deVere later this year. For complete transparency, I am also a deVere adviser, as well as being a deVere client.

My review is based on the products that deVere offer their clients. There is such a wide range available, and you can track the performance of the majority of those products via their excellent deVere Core app. The process for becoming a client and managing your investments is very smooth, even when buying a property.

In the past (many years) I was not in any way satisfied with the service and results I got at deVere. It was terrible. Since Julia Zhu has become my contact, however, everything is good. She seems very informed, makes good decisions, and is in constant contact with me. She would get 5 stars in my opinion. I have given deVere 3 stars because of her performance. Otherwise, I would have been stretching it to give you 1 star.
