"Car booked in for MOT and warning light…"

Car booked in for MOT and warning light on to replace brake fluid. Requested collection at 3pm. At 4.15 after receiving no call arrived at dealer where car was parked up washed and dry. Received keys and started to drive away only to notice brake fluid light was still on! Had they done this small job who knows? Went back in and the car had to be taken into the workshop to clear down the warning. How can you get such basic tasks such as phone calls and basic repair tasks so wrong? Extremely poor indeed !!

"Unreliable, rude, avoid"

Bought car in October.
Fault within 2 weeks.
Finally got it in on 6th January. They had it for a full day and did nothing to it! Was told I’d get a call to sort it the same evening. Nothing. I gave them a week. No call. So I called and was promised a callback. Four calls later (first three ignored)and finally it went in today on 23rd January! About four months after reporting it!
Took a courtesy car which was:
Dirty, had half eaten bag of crisps in the back and whilst using it clipped a kerb avoiding an ambulance….
It was parked at other side of car park when I picked it up (probably to hide the state it was in) so couldn’t check for marks so probably could have denied it. But did the decent thing.
They charged me £500! Apparently they don’t repair scuffs! Even though there was one on another wheel!
To make matters worse there were marks on my wheels which weren’t there before.
The service manager: Ian Spencer was rude. Shaking his head at me when I questioned why I was left for 25 minutes. I question him asking him not to shake his head at me. He then did it again. I pointed this out and he shouted across the car park: I didn’t this time!!!

No apology, recompense, thoroughly appalling!

"Don’t expect a class service"

Booked the car in for a end of warranty check, MOT an Oil change after getting a text from BMW. Moved my work schedules to able to drop the car off. Left the car from 8am to 4pm. I got a taxi to pick the car up and when I drove off we got a “drivetrain error” (this didn’t come up before) came up so I immediately called the service person I spoke with who made me and my partner feel silly for even pointing it out and just kept saying it’s fine to drive, it’s not a big issue. He drove the car in the garage and 5 minutes later came back out and said that there were no error message as if we were lying. Got back into the car and drove off and the same error message came up again, called the service guy again who made us feel like we were bothering him. Long story short.. we were given an appointment next week. Absolutely appalling service from BMW.

"Shocking business integrity."

Firstly I’d like to start by saying the car we bought was very good, but that’s credit to the previous owner. The dealership we bought it from on the other hand wasn’t so good. It is an approved Mini dealer.
The reason why we went to an approved mini dealer was due to the authorised used mini programme. However this is basically not worth the paper it’s written on.
The car I bought for the wife had previously had 1 MOT, 6 months and 900 miles earlier, that had an advisory notice saying 1 tyre was close to the legal limit. The same tyre was still on the car. 2 days before we were to collect it, the dealer asked me to pay the remaining balance, when I mentioned this, I was told “of course we will sort that out” so I duly paid the outstanding balance.
Considering that the tyre was bald on the outside edge but had 2.5 mm tread in the centre, and mini the approved list specifies at least 3mm, I was happy with the answer. However, the way they sorted it was to have it re MOT’d. At this point, mysteriously the advisory notice had disappeared, leaving a tyre with less than the Mini specified limit. They point blank refused to do anything about it.
Considering that I’d paid in full and was told it would take 10days to give me my cash back, and the fact that I’d changed the insurance over from the px to the new car, I couldn’t walk away easily, believe me I would have done.
The car had 4 litres of fuel in the tank, it took 40 litres to fill it. it had previously been verbally agreed that the tank would have fuel added when we collect, another broken promise.
In hindsight I would have gone to Motorpoint or similar, they probably have more integrity than the faceless (Upstairs) sales guys at Sandal Mini Wakefield have. The sales ladies that we dealt with were fine, but the guys upstairs who make these decisions, and seem to call all the shots, don’t seem to have the courage to face these things directly with the customers, leaving the ladies to pass on the messages that could create conflict.
I won’t trust these with my servicing and any future business.
Good thing is the car is good but has ultimately cost me more money than what I’d bargained for.
Don’t necessarily trust them, get any verbal agreement in writing before paying. This is BMW Mini we’re talking about, not Rob Meblind backstreet used cars. BTW, Mini Customer Service don’t seem to care that the dealers are selling cars that don’t meet the Mini approved standards that they seem to be proud of.
It’s up to you if you would trust Sandal BMW/Mini, wish I’d read these reviews before I decided it was the best place to buy the Mini from, because I don't.

"Live and learn! Car dealers are poor!"

Live and learn!
I guess we all live and learn!
I purchased a new electric Mini just before Christmas and was very clear with the sales team about my commute and my expectations! Not concerns we’re raised by what you would take as knowledgeable people. Like I said you learn in life!
I will never go back to Sandal again for anything, trust is what you don’t do with a back street dealer but a main deal I’d expect more!
I expressed my concerns over the range I could expect from the new Electric Mini and all the sales literature gives 140-145 mile range, I looked at the lowest figures given for battery and highest consumption of KWh per mile so I’d expect to be worse case at 115 miles, this is all but 80% of the quoted range.
As with all manufacturers figures we never expected to achieve and 80% is reasonable and acceptable for my commute and cost.
To my disappointment I only actually achieved 85 miles, somewhat short at only 58%
I stated this to Sandal and they booked the car in to be checked over, I made this in writing before what we are generally told as consumers you’re 14days rights!?
Low and behold nothing wrong with the car, and comments made about being aware of this as an issue as the loan car performs the same.
I would have expected this to be brought up in my initial conversation with the sales team as I was so concerned about the range at the time but nothing!
When I requested a refund you can guess I was refused, I was offered a buy back at market value or part ex for another mini!?! So why would I do that?
I do like the car itself so requested a compromise on some sort of offset payment as compensation for the extra cost I’m now going to incur but again refused with a nicely emailed letter with the former offers again!
As you can imagine very displeased with this.
I’ll try the trading standard route as well now the polite way has failed.
In short - do not trust - do not buy!
