"Very helpful but one small issue..."
We have used Rent4Sure for a few years now and have not had any issues with using them. We input the information online and it is very simple and easy to use and it has been improved over time too. Also if we have had any issues with an application then the staff are very helpful and quick to sort it out. The only thing that I would mention is that we do get calls from them fairly frequently as we do not actually use them very often (We are a student letting agency and we only do a credit search for our professional tenants which we do not get very often). This can be a little annoying as we end up repeating ourselves over and over again when we are asked why we have not used them for a while.

A Simple Straightforward Referencing Service
I have used Rent4Sure for around 2 years. Their system is simple to use; their communication with both the applicants and my office are excellent, and I would have no hesitation in recommending them.

"We have been using this company for a …"
We have been using this company for a few years now and they provide a really good credit referencing service with competitive rates.
They are also good at keeping us up to date if there are any legislative changes that may affect our standard credit check procedure.
There is always someone on hand to help with any queries we may have.

"From a prospective tenants perspective"
From a prospective tenants perspective, the service I received was very poor. The charge of £300 in total for referencing myself and my partner seems rather expensive, particularly as my partner is down as the sole rent-paying tenant due to my current work contact being part-time and zero-hours. I would be very surprised if processing my application took Rent4Sure even as much as an hour at their end, but it still cost £150. Surely it would be fairer to have a reduced fee when processing applications requiring significantly less time input, to reflect the reduced work time involved.
The day after we completed our referencing forms and left them with the letting agent, I received an answer-phone message from Rent4Sure stating that I had neglected to fill in full employer details on the referencing form. I phoned back Rent4Sure and explained that the letting agent had advised me to leave those details off as my partner was listed as the sole rent-paying tenant. The man on the other end of the phone told me that there was nothing written on the application form to indicate this was the case. So, I asked if he would please get in touch with the letting agent to sort it out. He responded that "we do not usually do that". At that point I did wonder what was actually being done to constitute the £150 paid to Rent4Sure for my referencing. I then phoned the letting agent and she confirmed that she had clearly written these instructions on the front of our referencing forms. She also said that Rent4Sure probably should have contacted their letting agency directly about this matter, and she indicated that they had experienced similar issues with Rent4Sure errors whilst processing other, previous applications.
The worst part of our story was the fact that Rent4Sure actually lied directly to us. After our reference applications had both been processed and approved, we both then received an email from Rent4Sure with the opening paragraph -
We've got great news – as you've recently been referenced for (address of property), your letting agent, (name of agent) has instructed us to contact you over the next couple of days to discuss your requirements for Tenants Liability Insurance.
At the bottom of this email the text reads -
Alternatively, if you no longer require Tenants Liability Insurance, you may opt out.
This clearly indicates that we are required to have this cover, in the statement 'if you no longer need'. However, we never actually needed this cover. This cover would have cost us an additional £79 (and an optional additional fee for contents insurance). We had been told nothing about needing to have this type of cover as part of our agreement for moving into the flat in question. When I contacted our letting agent to ask why we had not been told about this and if we did actually need to have this, in their response email they apologised and stated that they were not aware that such emails are being sent to applicants and that they certainly would not have authorised Rent4Sure to do this. They have logged a complaint with Rent4Sure. I will be contacting the local Trading Standards office to lodge my own complaint against Rent4Sure.

"I am a prospective tenant"
I am a prospective tenant, excellent landlord history, excellent employment. I am struggling with this company to finalise their checking.
I am told that they cannot raise the CEO of a massive international Group on the phone to confirm my employment. I weep at this incredible stupidity and wonder why any estate agents even bother using them as I see many many complaints on various forums about their poor service.
