I am the landlord of a property. I work for a bank and Rent4Sure contacted me on my work email address. They received an out of office message (as I was out that afternoon) which automatically gave the details of a work colleague to contact if the matter was urgent.
Anyone with an ounce of common sense would appreciate that an Out of Office message relates to work - not personal matters. (The clue is in 'office'...).
Undeterred, some bright spark contacted my colleague by email and phone, happily sharing details of my property, that I was a landlord, the tenant name etc. They also asked whether my colleague, with no right to the information and with no possible ability to provide a reference, could do so.
"Tick in the box, close the file, everybody happy” - even if they are knowingly not speaking to the landlord. Obviously my colleague didn't provide this sign off - but they would have accepted it.
I emailed to complain (and to tell them that the link in the original mail had expired - as ultimately my tenant was waiting for the sign off). They resent 2 emails with a new link for the sign off... to my colleague again...
Complaint number 2. They then resent the link to me. Of course the resending of the link was very quick. They want to close their file and get their fee. Still waiting for the apology or explanation though, two weeks on... I won’t be holding my breath.
So to summarise, they would have provided assurances to their client which could have been false / were not from the landlord, probably breached the data protection act, showed general incompetence and don’t seem to respond to any complaints. Apart from that…

We have been working with rent4sure for a number of years, they are professional company who always provide a fantastic service to both ourselves and our clients. They are always very speedy to provide answers to our requests.

I've somehow found myself paying money for this company to make the process of referencing more difficult. They don't seem to have a collective piece of initiative or common sense available to put into action. Avoid if at all humanly possible.

I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole. Endless phone calls to endless different people and no resolutions. Sadly, they cannot think outside the box. A complete waste of time.

Rent4Sure an excellent organisation and the best in the estate agency in regards to insurance, credit checks and other features they have to offer.
In addition, I would recommend this company to all Estate agency's which are looking for a cost effective and professional external company to work alongside.
