Website is user friendly and staff are always on hand to offer help advice.

Have been using Rent4Sure for a few years now and they have always given the best service possible, top to bottom. Quick service and any problems we have are also always quickly addressed.

"Shady treatment of private customer information"

The process was fine and fast.
The unacceptable part was the fact that they shared my private information with third parties - I got a call from a third party agent about Broadband & Sky TV service a day later stating that Rent4sure requested the call.

At best, Rent4sure sandwiched the agreement somewhere in the reference form just to meet the legal requirements, but I cannot remember giving the agreement for it (which in itself is incredibly shady considering this is a referencing form meant to provide references, not to sign up for further marketing)

Email from rent4sure:
"If your reference is successful Home Telecom will contact you within 48 hours. This is a no obligation service but if you prefer not to be contacted please email sales{at}rent4sure.co.uk."

Follow up email from Home Telecom:
"We sent this email to you because your email was supplied to us by Rent4sure when you opted-in on your contract."

So make up your mind, did I opt-in or did I not opt-out? And I have to email to opt-out? Seriously, how far behind the times is the company? Wasn't an easy "Press here to opt-out" already an industry standard or is it just another way to decrease the rate of opt-outs?

Considering that the tenants actually pay for the referencing service, it's quite unacceptable that they try to double-dip in such a way.
Either way, would prefer any other service that doesn't share my personal information (email, phone number and name) ...

Review ‘Rent4Sure’

Definitely one of the most stressful experiences of my life, so far. My LA assured me before we were reference checked that his company mainly focuses on credit checks, employment status and current living situation.
This was a joint tenancy arrangement between my sister and I, so I really didn’t think there was going to be an issue as we both have good credit history etc. That paired with the fact that we both earn a good salary, so affordability from our perspective shouldn’t be an issue for the LA.
However, despite the checks from Rent4Sure taking well over 8 days to complete they decided to decline my application. When I asked for clarification on this I was just told to refer back to the LA. The LA informed me that they failed me on an alleged late rental payment to my current landlord. This information was based on a bank statement back in July 2017 at the beginning of my tenancy with the current landlady. I paid on that particular date with instruction from the landlady, and decided to set up a standing order for the 10th of every month from then on. So in their eyes it’s inconsistent I admit, but instead of assuming it was a late payment they should have requested evidence to support my circumstance.
Instead of contacting me for an explanation, Rent4Sure just thought it was best to report this to the LA, who thought it was just as ridiculous, and fail me on that basis.
I tried to contact them to change their minds but they weren’t budging. It definitely felt like a “Computer says no” situation.
So with all this in mind my sister believed her application would be declined as she earns slightly less than I do and she hasn’t uploaded any supporting documents. But to our surprise, she passed! I guess for a company like this they have a very basic criteria to check off, but if you give them anything extra they’ll find something to flag up to the LA to justify their purpose I suppose. Stats to meet and all that!

Despite having a squeaky clean credit score, a good reference from my landlady and a high income, I now need to apply a guarantor to my application. I’ve never needed one before this and I’ve rented privately for years. Rent4Sure are conducting this check as well so this will be fun.

This whole process with Rent4Sure has been a complete nightmare. Despite the extra documents (Which weren't mandatory) I provided in the hope it would speed things up, it just opened myself up for scrutiny to which there are no appeal procedures.

The only thing I can take away from all this is that from now on I will take extra care about what I give to referencing companies, and try to avoid agents who use this one in particular.
