AVAX office in Dubrovnik lapad is NOT in the location they gave me at reservation - Lea Travel does not know anything about avax.
At pickup morning person was 20 minutes late. He drove us to real office which is Suzuki seller 2km away from given address.
Time was 9:00 until we really got the car.
Car was brand new having some protective plastics on. But gas tank was totally empty, warning light was on. Also windshield washer tank was empty.
They told that We can return car with empty tank but how is that possible in real life, you can not take gas away - My first expression was that they cheat you with gasoline but I got full refund about gasoline - really great service.

AVAX toimisto Dubrovnikissa Labadin niemimaalla ei ole Lea Travelin osoitteessa, jonka he antoivat autoa varattaessa.
Kun kysyimme Lea Traelilta he eivät tienneet Avaxista mitään.
Soitto AVAXille ja selviää, että tuo on vain hakuosoite, josta vuokraaja haetaan oikealle toimistolle, joka on 2km päässä.
Hakuaika oli 8:00 ja henkilö tuli myöhässä 8:20. Auton saimme vasta 9:00.
Hän vei meidät toimistolle, joka on oikeasti Suzuki myyntiliike.
Auto oli aivan uusi - kehut siitä - jopa suojamuoveja oli paikallaan.
Mutta bensatankki oli tyhjä, samoin tuulilasin pesunestesäiliö.
Tankkasin 43 litraa, 60€ edestä ensimmäisellä kerralla.
Auton voisi kuulemma palauttaa myös tyhjällä tankilla, mutta kuinka se onnistuu käytännössä, he huijaavat bensiinillä.
Jouduin toisema päivänä tankkaamaan vielä lisää, koska auton ajotietokone näytti vähän mitä sattui, eikä siihen voinut luottaa.
En halunnut joutua tilanteeseen, että olen tankki tyhjänä oudossa paikassa ja huoltoasemat ovat kiinni.
Olimme sopineet palautuspäivän aamuksi menoja 8:30 ja tuo olisi helposti onnistunut, jos AVAX toimisto olisi sijainnut siellä osoitteessa, joka meille oli kerrottu lähellä hotellia. Nyt jouduimme palauttamaan auton jo edellisenä iltana koska muuten emme olisi sinne ehtineet tuolta kaukana sijaitsevalta oikealta toimistolta.
Palautettaessa tankissa oli yli puolet bensiiniä jäljellä, Mutta yllätyksekseni sain asiakaspalvelusta korvauksen tuosta, palvelu pelasi sen osalta todella hienosti.

"Excellent service and a great vehicle"
Excellent service and a great vehicle. The Suzuki Vitara is a great car and eats up the miles whilst you ride/drive in comfort. This was the third hire that I have had with Avax (one from Zagreb and two from Zadar) and I will definitely be using them again and again...I can highly recommend this company, when you visit Croatia...5 x stars from me!

"I would recomended this company"
The car was what we wanted with the Green card included in the rental so we could travel around Croatia and Montenegro. The car was a bit dusty but I will say the dry weather will have somenthing to do with that. I will have given a 5 starts if they had come and pick us up from the airport as estated in the email they send to us. After wainting for a while there we decided to ring from our mobile and the gentleman said that we needed to find our way to them. It wasn't far but it will have save us time if we knew that before. I forgot to say I rented the car in Dubrovnik.

"Very user friendly"
Hired a minibus for four days from Zadar then left at airport.
Very laid back but competent. Much nicer experience than large companies. No hassle when we explained that we had our own excess insurance. Would definitely use again

Some comments on this site had me a little worried but I still chose Avax for the great price with cross border and second driver included (these options would get you close or over double the price in other companies). And there was absolutely nothing to worry about
The desk is not technically in the airport but it is maybe 300m out of the terminal. Just across the road from the INA gas station (look it up on google maps) We didn't know where it was so we called and he came to get us. Maybe they should include some explanation of this in the confirmation email..
We had no problem when giving the car back, he spend less time looking the car than when we took it and he was clearly not looking to bother us.
The car was not in perfect condition (scratches etc) nor perfectly clean (dust, but nothing worse than the average personnal car)
Finally, the reservation process is kind of surprising but I don't see a problem. You don't pay anything in advance and the first mail you receive is "pending reservation: Reservation is now under consideration, with next email we will confirm or cancel your booking" then a confirmation email (I got it in 30 minutes at 10 o'clock in the evening)

"incompetenti/truffatori"
Sono partito il 5 agosto 2015 per stare una settimana in Croazia. Eravamo in 6 e abbiamo prenotato online una 7 posti, dopo qualche giorno mi scrivono una e-mail e mi dicono che hanno soltanto una 8 posti e rispondo dicendo che non ci sono problemi.
Arrivati a Spalato nonostante avessero il numero del volo e avessimo un orario prestabilito si presentano con 30 minuti (non hanno uno stand nell'aeroporto e neanche all'esterno), e che sorpresa la la nostra macchina era una Kia Carnival 7 posti invece che 8 ( come ci avevano detto ) stra-vecchia tutta graffiata con qualche bozzetto quà e là però non potevamo farci un granché visto che ci hanno consegnato le chiavi e la macchina nel parcheggio e sono spariti. La macchina già a 70 km/h sull'autostrada tremava peggio di un terremoto, sembrava stesse cadendo a pezzi probabilmente colpa delle gomme che erano dure come un sasso. Per lo meno le cose più importanti come fari tergicristalli ecc funzionavano tutte. Passata la settimana andiamo a consegnare la macchina e da persone come si deve ci andiamo a parcheggiare dove ci era stata consegnata ma loro da persone senza il senso del dovere erano di nuovo in ritardo facendoci rischiare di perdere l'aereo e per di più quando arrivano volevano farci pagare de bozzi che già c'erano solo che sul foglio che hanno compilato prima di darci la macchina hanno segnato il bozzo come graffio. Per di più il tizio non parlava l'italiano e l'inglese neanche tanto bene quindi per fargli capire che non avrei pagato per quei danni gli ho detto che ero disposto a perdere l'aereo e che volevo mi portasse nella loro agenzia ed è stato lì che è scattato qualcosa tanto che il tizio ha chiamato qualcuno e abbiamo pagato solo quello che dovevamo. Il tutto mi ha fatto capire che Avax rent a car ha una agenzia fantasma perchè sul sito ho cercato l'indirizzo dell'agenzia e quando l'ho googlato su maps mi diceva che si trovava fuori dall'aeroporto nel parcheggio dove in realtà non c'era niente, e per di più ci volevano fregare dandoci un auto tutta ammaccata così da poter confondere un bozzo con un graffio e farci pagare qualcosa che non avevamo fatto noi. Non fidatevi assolutamente di queste persone che vogliono solo fregarvi.

"Mixed experience."
The registration is smooth & the car OK. The return is smooth too. But we were surprised to find there's no fixed counter at the airport, we prefer to have one. The gas tank is 3/8 full when we took the car & had to be returned 3/8 full, which is clumsy.

"Very average rental car experience"
We were hurriedly rushed out of the airport as soon as we arrived to a car with a broken rear light, we were not given a map even though it was written as being included with the car and then told we had to pay a 700 euro deposit for the car which we were not aware of. (this then took 2 weeks to be refunded, partly due to our bank as well) Once we had paid, the guy quickly drove off and left us, in a new city with no map or directions and not much petrol in the car. It was also very difficult to find to location to drop off the car when we were done as all we had was the address on our receipt and the office is tucked away inside a complex with multiple other offices etc
