"Not to be trusted."
Rented a car from them, through Holiday Autos, in Cyprus in August 2017.
Still waiting for my £100 deposit. Gave my some cock and bull story, but ultimately anyone will be a fool to use them. Not trustworthy!

"Total rip off-use another company"
350 Euro to hire a small car on a Friday at 5pm until Sunday at 5pm in May 2018. I had a wedding in Belfast but was flying into Dublin. I had to pay a cross border fee to go to the North of 35Euro, (the same does not apply going from the North, to Republic of Ireland).
I have rented with Hertz and Avis in NI and UK for 5 days-a week and never paid more than 60 Euro. I was willing to put a big deposuit down in place of a credit card but that wasn't permitted.
How can I normal person afford 350euro for car hire for two days and how can a car hire company stand by that? Staff were totally unapologetic saying it was because they were 'busy', yet there was a choice of a few cars there when I arrived.
Extortionate, a total rip off. I will take my business elsewhere and have told me friends and family the same. Never again.

"Worst EVER!"
Was going on a business trip to Waterford, Ireland. Have reserved/rented a car from home and expected it to be ready when landing in Dublin at 12am.
Went to the Sixt office in the airport and waited there for 40 minutes when I was told I should just go down and wait for the shuttlebus to come and pick me up and drive me to the location where the cars would be.
Waited in the sun, 26 degrees in the shadow, for 2 hours and 45 minutes. We where around 40-50 people waiting for that shuttlebus, called them 10 times and they promised every time, that the bus would be there in 5-10 minutes. No one came with water, was dehydrating, sweating and feeling sick.
Finally the bus came and we arrived at their office where I was waiting 1 hour and 15 minutes to get the keys for the car.
Have rented a "VW Golf or Similar", got a Toyata Hybrid "probably the worst car ever", but it could drive.
I told the manager at the office how bad I thought their service was, that we were waiting so many hours and I had to cancel all the schedule meetings I had that day. His response was "I don't think you waited that long, our buses drives every 5 minutes".
Well, that just added more proof to the "bad service" issue.
Will NEVER rent through Sixt again, NEVER!
Hertz, Avis and Europecar had busses coming every 5th minute, so I will definately go with one of those in the future!

"Toll Charge Rip-Off"
When travelling in Ireland, make sure you pay the toll charges yourself or get in writing how much they are charging to your card per toll. I was charged €9.80 for two tolls that should have cost me €6.20. There are no admin fees in relation to the toll charge in Ireland so this is just blatant overcharging.
The car we hired was great and the staff we dealt with were very friendly but the overcharging has sullied what was otherwise a good experience with Sixt.

"They'll rip you off!"
I recently rented a car from you Sixt via Ryanair, and I was really confused regarding the prices etc.
I paid Ryanair for both the car and insurance, when ordering the car.
When I came to pick up the car, I had to pay additional for both the car and the Sixt-guy told me, the insurance I had bought didn't cover, so he sold me a new one.. I talked to Ryanair, who told me, the insurance I bought through them had me covered, and the guy shouldn't have sold me an extra one.
So now, I rented the car, and paid twice, both to you and Ryanair, and I paid for two insurances, both when ordering the car from Ryanair, and when picking it up.. so Sixt just ripped me off of 258 euros extra, even though I had already paid for the car and insurance...

"Do not rent at Sixt in Dublin"
Do not rent at Sixt in Dublin. If you dare to rent at Sixt at Dublin Airport - bring condoms and lube because they will try to screw you. They really don’t care about you. All they want is your money.
Only regarding Ireland – Not regarding Sixt in the rest of Northern Europe where they rent new and cleaned cars and where customer service are very friendly and have a lot of skills.
Two times in 2017 I rented a SDAR CLASS car (VW Passat aut.) at Sixt in Dublin Airport. In July and again in October.
Both cars: Both times the cars were dirty. The cars interior were full of stains and the outside of the cars were full of dirt and dust. Both cars were full of scratches, bumps and they were over 2 ½ years old even though Sixt company policy is that they rent new vehicles. The VW Passat I rented in July had a mileage of +30.000 km. and the one I rented in October had a mileage of +101.000 km… Both cars had several failures / errors such as flat tire warnings, oil change service error, low/no battery warning regarding the car key and both cars had really bad windshield wipers. Not good in Ireland. Especially not good in Ireland in October month with the “Irish Monsoon rains” and storms!
The last car: I ordered and paid 45 days before the start date. The amount I had to pay was approx. 500 EUR + (300 EUR in deposit – got all the deposit back) for the SDAR car. That’s a good prize for 6 days with a new SDAR CLASS car. Unfortunately Sixt didn’t have an avaliable car in the SDAR CLASS so they tried to give me a Renault Captur (two classes under what I paid for) so I refused. They felt insulted because I didn’t want the Renault Captur and I had to talk to a woman in their office. After 20 min. I got a SDAR CLASS car but with the above written problems and it was only at Sixt carpark because the car dealer haven’t collected it yet! The old Sixt cars get sent back to car dealers etc...
After returning the car the week after I talked to the manager but he couldn’t do anything! The manager even told me that they only use the old VW Passat cars for 1 day rent until they are collected by car dealers!!! Tried to email their customer service but they were not service-minded! The only thing they could do was to give me an unknown percentage off my next rental car!
I’m so disappointed with Sixt in Ireland. I gave them two chances this year but for no good reason. I this case it’s good I’m a man for otherwise I’d be pregnant now.

"I've never written a bad review but …"
I've never written a bad review but here goes.
I concur - DO NOT RENT WITH THIS CAR COMPANY. It took 2-3 hours to pick up our car, standing in line and then the whole process was a nightmare. I think they make you wait that long so that when you're finally talking with an agent you're so tired you're not really paying attention. We wanted to add a driver and upgrade to a car that had wi fi/GPS. We ended up getting a dinky plug in, not the upgraded car with wi fi and they still charged us for the upgraded car. The end cost was more than double then what I had originally booked with American Express. We knew it would be more but that's crazy. There are more reputable car companies that are more honest.

"DO NOT USE SIXT DUBLIN!!!"
DO NOT USE SIXT DUBLIN!!!
We rented a car on 10th August for 3 days. On arrival at the airport, we were told by the unsmiling man at the Sixt desk that since we didn't book directly with them, we would have to get the shuttlebus to the compound. On our arrival, there were 25 customers waiting to be served, and only 3 people serving.
After 20 minutes when the same 3 people were still there, I went to see a man sitting, staring out of the window, who was in a glass walled office at the front. He told me he was the supervisor, and was busy. I pointed out that he had no paperwork and the computer was not on, and told him to get out there immediately to help to reduce the queue.
He covered his name badge when I asked his name, so I went to take a photo, and as he put his hand out to stop me, I saw his name was WALTER.
It took TWO hours before we finally got our car, and were asked to check for dents and scratches in the dark, which we were unable to do. Because of this delay, we missed the special meal we had paid 120 Euros for, as we arrived at the hotel at gone midnight. It ruined the start of our holiday.
Eventually, having given me every excuse for the rubbish service, I got back half the rental which barely covered anything. USE THEM AT YOUR PERIL!!! Did you know they are a franchise???

"Too cheap - no good"
In Dublin Airport we took the Sixt shuttle bus to the car pick up location. There we had to wait for more than half an hour just to get to the counter. The staff seemed uninterested and arrogant. We had booked a VW Golf or similar, but Sixt claimed they only had a Dacia Duster left. I refused to accept an inferior car, which had only received 3 stars in the Euro Ncap crash test. Sixt could not understand my objections. After waiting another 15 minutes for the manager, Sixt suddenly managed to find a Renault Captur for us.
The car however had many scratches/dents outside and the interior was also pretty worn.
Returning the car I expected lots of trouble and explaining even though we hadn’t made any damages, but it was surprisingly uncomplicated. However, I did not get a receipt for returning the car. "You'll get it by email", they said, but still I haven't received it (since 2 days now).
Sixt is cheaper than other companies, however, it comes at a price. In my opinion the saving is not worth the time and the trouble.
