"Slum landlords haven!!!!"

I've used spare room to find housing 4 times.
3 out of 4 were AWFUL. And there's no support on spare room to complain about landlords.
1) woman renting a flat in North Wales. She lives in London. Never seen the place. After one night, the damp was so bad it covered an entire wall. Other tenants in building all either had special needs or were migrants who didn't know their rights. I left out of pocket after 6 weeks.

2) house share- I asked for a short term let, organized it on 15th April to start on 29th. In the middle of the night the lady texted me, less than two days before to say she's decided not to rent the room. It left me without housing, two days before starting a new job, in an area where I had no friends or family to support me.

3) the latest. I'm trying to complain on spare room but there's no way to. I got to the flat, signed tenancy agreement. Didn't exchange money as landlord said we could do it next day. I said to him the flat was a bit dirty but considering he had only 1.5 days to organize it, that was ok and that I'd clean it but please could he launder the fabric items as it smells like a smoker was here last. He said yes. I then spent all evening cleaning the place, taking photos for evidence. He texts me the following morning saying upon reflection he's changed his mind and wants me out by 12. I essentially got here, was his cleaning lady for free, now he's kicking me out, no money has exchanged hands so I don't know my rights. I've bolted the door and I'm waiting for the shelter charity to open their helpline so he can't kick me out. Again, no support from spare room. The platform that all of these evil, evil, callous, disgusting people use.

I've had one good experience from it but 3 out of 4 DISASTERS. Spare room needs to support tenants.

Spoke to Jo, when I rang. Within 10 minutes and in a very pleasant manner, he had answered all my queries. He was very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. He did not waste any time at all. I was very impressed.

Very helpful and experienced staff and I always seem to get to speak to a real person when I need to - this matters a lot!
Sometimes there are glitches in the app but rarely - and having a highly functioning customer service team means if you have a question you are always met with informed guidance !

The staff I had spoken too was very calm, helpful and professional, while I was stressed trying to correct the problem she was very calm in helpful in correcting the problem.
I wish all organisations would have staff like her.

"Easy to use but didn’t want to pay to contact landlords"

It was easy to contact landlords but felt I shouldn’t have to pay for this service for rooms that were newly advertised.
The frustrating element was when I did not get any responses.
I am generally happy as I have found the perfect place for me!
