In trying to sell a number plate with BCR, we encountered a number of concerning issues:

- Was told there was no selling fee (the up front payment would be the be only cost incurred if number plate was to sell). However, after making payment, we got the contract through and it included a selling fee. When querying the amount, the advisor couldn't tell us how the figure was reached, which made it very hard to assess what the final amount would be if we were to change the amount.

- Told that the number plate would be advertised in national papers, but they couldn't tell us when this would start nor which dates/papers that the number plate had appeared in (appreciate you maybe can't tell us before hand, but is there no record of when adverts were printed?). How can we confirm they were actually printed?

- We asked to be notified of all offers and interest, but later found out we hadn't been notified of interest (granted these were deemed to be low offers, but this would have helped gauge the real market value of the number plate, and we did request to be notified of all interest)

- We have requested our details to be updated on a number of occasions, yet they continue to use the old details when contacting us. Also concerning was, after we had been told the plate had been advertised for a few weeks, we got a couple of calls asking if we were still planning to advertise the plate (was it not being advertised? Should this not have been clear on their system?).

We haven't been able to sell the number plate through BCR and have now spent approximately 25% of the registration plates listed price in fees. We have been pushed to keep paying for advertising, and only recently found out that their offer to keep the registration plate listed on their website comes with selling fee never previously mentioned.
