"Shocking"

Shocking. Just received a nessage that they debited a large amount without explenation. I took an extra Top insurance, had some scraps but they toon the money. Never, never Sixt again.
In Dublin at the desk, no explenation but you have to check everything yourself before you leave and afterwards they nail you. Don' t hire with them. Even if you taken a Top insurance, it won't help.

"I would give them zero if I could. I only tried them because the hotel reception mentioned them. I wished I had checked reviews. It seems they are a fraudulent operation preying on unsuspecting toiris"

I would give them zero

"Comment prendre en otage des clients"

Bonjour,
J'ai eu l'impression de me faire arnaquer, voler.

"NO SPARE - BEWARE"

Rented from Sixth for 3 weeks in Ireland and got a simple puncture. Turns out they don't supply a spare so rather than use the goop provided I call their roadside assistance. Car is taken to their tyre place where they tell me it needs a replacement tyre at 200 euro and that I will be reimbursed. I was not reimbursed as I had not taken out tyre and windscreen insurance despite asking and paying for full insurance.
So a simple puncture will cost you 200 euro plus your time and that is after paying an exorbitant 3600 euro for the hire.
Never again. It would be cheaper to buy a car.

"scam almost inevitable"

Reserved through expedia who take no responsibility. As others have mentioned the go to scam is around CDW insurance. My reservation indicated I declined theirs as mine is covered by my cc. It also said "quote includes all mandatory fees and taxes". I came prepared with a letter from Visa stating i had the coverage. The were kind of surprised I actually had it then argued I needed to pay anyways finally relenting and stating I needed to pay an extra 35E admin fee not to use their insurance. Ten days post rental still waiting for the damage or fuel scam to come....

"RIP OFF"

Rang Sixt to say that my sons flight was delayed. They won't change the reservation and will give the car away as a no-show after an hour.
Will have to cancel and rebook - €500 booking becomes €4,000. Rip off merchants. Will never use them again.

Sixt want more information: Booking was made through Expedia. My son rang Expedia who were phone on for 30mins (at 3am US time) with Sixt who refused to make any allowance. We offered to allow his wife pick up the car on the same reservation at the alloted time (same Expedia account, same Credit Card). Sixt said no.

"HIGHLY FRAUDULENT ACTIVITY"

HIGHLY FRAUDULENT. Sixt has been attempting to charge thousands in USD ($2600 so far) to my husband’s account because they have not updated his account to show the car was returned. Which is completely insane, because we returned the vehicle TO AN EMPLOYEE AT SIXT, got on a plane and flew home.

Sixt has been completely unresponsive to our attempts to fix this issue. We are now filing fraud reports against Sixt Dublin with different government agencies, including the FBI. Fortunately, our bank (Chase) agrees that this is fraudulent and is working with us to get the money back.

We have documented everything and are prepared to request video footage to prove that we returned the vehicle if needed. Completely outrageous…

AVOID SIXT AT ALL COSTS!

"avoid sixt ireland"

Like another US based customer who has placed a review here, I would give zero stars if I could. It's basically the same story: when you arrive at Dublin after a long flight they want you to buy their expensive CDW insurance even though it's already covered by your credit card and described as optional on their website. They were quickly able to point to the paragraph in the contract that stipulates this - something like page 38 of a very lengthy contract - so it's not their first time. In spite of the late hour in the US on a Sunday we were able to get the necessary coverage confirmation letter from our credit card company very quickly. A huge contrast with the "customer service" offered by the sixt sales people who were very hostile once we queried their high pressure tactics.

The experience went downhill from there. The next day we discovered a problem with tire pressure on the front driver side. This ended up consuming a lot of our time and attention during our holiday as we repeatedly attempted to contact sixt and made our daily pilgrimage to the local garage to pump up the tire. On our first garage visit we found all 4 tires were at random pressures. After many phone calls, attempts to visit their barely open office in Rochestown, a hilarious conversation with "Lisa" who told us "this is normal because of speed bumps", and a long argument with the very rude customer service manager on the phone, they finally "took ownership" - all they could offer was to send a third party roadside van to us, have us pay for the repair and then they'd refund it. The roadside assistance person had clearly been warned that we were difficult customers, but soon realized we'd been landed with a dodgy vehicle with a faulty tire. Later on when we asked about the refund we had to go through lengthy email exchanges to "prove" that it had been authorized by the sixt "roadside assistance" manager. We were asked to provide "call logs" because apparently they had no record of this. Once they finally agreed to do the refund of course they bungled that as well, telling us one thing and then hiding the refund under another fee without telling us. After all of this they sent a final email smugly boasting of how they had taken ownership of the issue.

These people haven't a clue about customer service, clearly do not maintain their cars, and they're so busy trying to get their hands in your pocket they miss the whole point of being in business.

I'll never rent a car from sixt again.
