"Comfortable cottage in splendid location"

Lakeside Cottage is in a splendid location and is a unique property adjacent to the magnificent Jacobean Dorfold Hall and its grounds. We enjoyed our short stay there. Booking was straightforward and the staff helpful with queries. The cottage is compact but comfortable. Good WiFi and easy to use freeview TV. However the heating was not very good. Fine with the stove lit but central heating inadequate. So overall I would not describe the cottage as a “luxury cottage”.

The Adam and Eve cottages are lovely. Perfect for two couples that want to spend time together but value a little space. The two hot tubs and saunas are lovely and are checked and extra chemicals added every day. The log burners are great and we were supplied with new logs every day if we were running low. The estate is lovely and allows for short country walks - with lakes and bridges.

The only issues were there beds - which need upgrading as both sag toward the middle. And Adam's bed the middle legs were broken. The showers in both bedrooms need attention as one only ran hot and the other ran too cool. And the swimming pool on site was freezing - not heating in the changing area and though the pool was warm enough the building itself was too cold - so we only used the facility once.

Avoid at all costs, please do not book with these guys, they are cowboys. The properties are terrible and they lie about what is included. We stayed at the Byre where they advertised a indoor heated pool. The pool was freezing and was not a heated pool. The fixtures at the pool were loose and unsafe especially the stairs to the pool. The facilities are dirty which caused everyone to get unwell. They refused to give our money so we are taking them to court and have complained to the Ombudsman. Hopefully we will get them shut down so they can not rip anyone else off.

The cottage was completed to a high spec, and felt luxurious. There were a few details that stopped it being a 5 star resort, but ultimately still a great base to explore the area and take time away

Beautiful lodge with stunning views, especially in the frost and snow. Campus was enhanced with tasteful lighting and wildlife tables which we enjoyed watching during breakfast. Friendly and helpful host too.

Lovely stay, location and lovely lady who owns it. She put banners up for my boyfriend’s birthday everything was super clean. You are next to the house but not over looked at all. Perfect location to everything
