Update: this has been resolved and the company has provided a full refund and advised their policies have changed.

I want to warn everyone else. This is the same complaint that has been repeated over and over again and YesChef does not appear to have changed their practices. I was given a gift and like every other complaint, it auto-renewed without any notice, receipt, etc. I contacted them within days of being charged $440NZD ($244USD) for a year subscription! they took some time to respond and like everyone else they have only offered a 50% refund which is only what they're advertising the course to be now.
Do not buy their service and do not give anyone their gift pass. It is absolutely not worth this hassle. A good company wouldn't need to hijack customers this way by auto-renewing and not offering refunds when people don't want the service.

"DO NOT BUY AS A GIFT."

I was given a year subscription as a very generous gift. With no advance warning email, or notification, nearly £200 was taken from my account a year later as the gift has automatically renewed (I do not recall giving my bank details when I logged in with the gift voucher, but I must have done - a year later a reminder would have been helpful). Was offered a partial refund, but someone's kind present has now cost me £100. Feels like a scam. Surely they could email ahead of the payment - this is after all, the first payment from my account and should therefore be covered by the 30 day cooling off period. Apparently not.

Edit: Have since resolved this with the company, but wish it hadn't taken a one star review to allow this to happen.

"Professional team!"

I got memberships last year on discount and did not realize that an automatic renewal was part of my purchase.

Whilst I did not get the full refund, which was one of two options, the assistance I received was professional and quick, even though it was during the Christmas holiday period.

Unfortunately I did not make much use of the membership which is why I requested the refund. Nothing to do with the product.

Thanks again YesChef for your expeditious handling of this.

"It was almost Christmas and I have two…"

It was almost Christmas and I have two boys who LOVE to cook (one is a line cook at a great Chicago restaurant) so I leapt at the chance to buy two gift subscriptions, but I needed a little help getting the order straight, and the customer support was literally the best I've ever had online. Phenomenally quick, and personal, and they got it all taken care of. If the courses are as great as the customer service, YesChef is five-star all the way.

"My login problem was resolved."

Initially, I could not get response and waited for over 30 mins and this is bad experience. However, once case is recognized by support agent, issue was immediately resolved and I could get good make-up offer considering my long time of inaccessible period. I can't mark 5 start as I expect quicker response. Thanks.

"HORRIBLE customer service"

HORRIBLE customer service! I signed up for a one year subscription as a gift. They put the charge through in seconds but I have been unable to sign-in (reset password, etc. does not work) and the robotic chat sucks. When you do get to the point of submitting a question, the response says they will get back to you in a few hours. A few hours? Not to worry, they actually do not respond ever. I am going back to Amex to get a refund and tell them this business is a scam.
UPDATE: After a couple days of continued inaction, I did send an email as suggested in YesChef's response. A week later......nothing.
