"My experience and rating have changed."
I'm changing my review thanks to the amazing branch manager who assisted me in resolving my issues. She went above and beyond and did it all with a smile on her face. Thank you so much, Sydney. The process wasn't pleasant or necessary but it has been resolved and that goes a long way.
I had my first direct deposit held for address verification on December 28th. The branch manager informed me that my account was closed on December 22nd, however, my lease agreement was received when the account was opened and my deposit was accepted on December 27th. I was initially told that it was only a hold but my branch manager could override and distribute my funds so that my family could eat and pay rent. After several days of back-and-forth and waiting for the branch manager, I went to a sister location where the manager was very helpful, but couldn't help me since it had to be done at the branch where the account was initiated. Unfortunately, the branch manager was on vacation all week, leaving me in a difficult situation. What a way to start my New Year!

"Worst customer service ever"
Worst customer service ever. Went in to get a cashiers check and got told I have to pay a 10$ fee (never had to pay before). Even after agreeing with the fee the woman still tried to have a disagreement with me even after the matter was over. She was very unprofessional and on edge. I had to ask her if we could just proceed with the transaction. She definitely needs more training.

Woodforest stated my account was closed but yet when a deposit popped in they took $564 then when I called & stated “I thought the account was closed” they claim money was owe for the overdraft but yet if the account is closed how can money be even accepted?? I’ll NEVER bank with them again .

"Worst bank to have a business account…"
Worst bank to have a business account with. They actually make it hard to give them money when depositing checks and when you need to make a withdrawal of anything over a mediocre amount they have to "order" your cash to withdrawal. I can't speak for all branches but mine is a revolving door of managers and associates who don't seem to have a grasp of what they are doing. Sadly, I have been with them for over a decade and it just gets worse every time I have to step foot in the branch. My suggestion to anyone considering opening either a personal and or business account is to go elsewhere. Just to unprofessional and unpleasant to continue doing anything with.

"Poor Customer Service"
I went to the brach in Fort Wayn In. earlier in the month to get my last name changed after I have gotten married. The 2 customer service were not very friendly and the one that were helping me didn't even smile at all. I gave her my marriage license and DL and SS# but which she took to the manager and said that my marriage license is not good and I need a different one. I let her know that I use this marriage certificate with all of my accounts including 2 other banks and social security to get my ss card and everyone took it with no problem. She said I had to wait for approval and don't know how long it will be. While sitting waiting I notice how these ladies talked to other customers that came in and it was not good customer service at all. I work for a bank in the business department and if we talk to our customer that way we would get fired. I decided that I will be closing this account.

"Great Bank!"
I absolutely love Woodforest, so I have a very poor banking history, and I needed a second chance and Woodforest came to the rescue with there second chance checking.
Woodforest has been beyond amazing in every way possible. Customer service has been great, my local branch is beyond phenomenal, and the mobile app is pretty great as well. I have ZERO complaints about them!

"Complaint filed with the Comptroller of the Currency"
Here's the text of my complaint filed with the Comptroller of the Currency:
On November 9, 2023, I opened a checking account with a $2,500 check drawn on Wells Fargo Bank and that check cleared Wells Fargo on November 10, 2023. In the past week, I've tried to resolve an issue where trying to login to the website from my home computers through either Wi-Fi or Ethernet at home gave me an error message that I was not in a region that could access my account online. My ISP is in San Marcos, TX and, since I have a dynamic IP address, it recently changed to the San Marcos geolocation, which is within Woodforest's North American region that is allowed to login (they have bank branches in the Austin, TX area, so that shouldn't be an issue). I tried many times to resolve it with both my ISP (they can't do anything about the bank) and with the bank's technical department, presumably at their HQ in The Woodlands, TX. Finally, I spoke with Jay early in the week of November 12, 2023 (the fellow who opened my account) and he said they would waive the $25 fee normally charged for closing the account in the first 6 months. When I opened the account, he had said that I had to wait 7 days to access the money, so I told him that I'd be in on Friday, November 17, 2023, which is today, to either withdraw everything but $1 and leave the account open for 6 months or close it altogether. This afternoon, I brought back the folder he gave me when I opened the account and a screenshot of the problem. He stood in the background and sort of spoke on my behalf, but the woman waiting on me started first by telling me I needed to change the settings in my computer. I retired 4.5 years ago after over 12 years with Whitestone REIT in Houston, 8 of those years as Vice President, Information Systems, so I RAN the IT department for a corporation listed on the NYSE. Then, she tells me it's 7 to 10 WORKING DAYS and I'm sure she was going to take that $25, when she said she'd have to get a manager's approval. The manager was RIGHT THERE (if any of the 5 employees standing there was the manager - there isn't a side office in that location). At that point, I said, "just send me the damned check," and walked out. I got to my car when a call from "Western Union" came up on my phone. Apparently, they occupy an old Western Union office or they do double-duty there, because that's what always came up when Jay called me. I answered the phone and repeated, "just send me the damned check," but she (the teller) told me I left my Texas Driver's License, so I went back into that Walmart location (they're owned by the Waltons, so they're mostly inside of Walmarts). I hoped that they would give me my money when I went back in but, instead, they were all smiles, TAUNTING ME EVEN MORE. Again, I repeated "send me the damned check," because it was obvious that they weren't going to give me my money. I intend to complain again, if they deduct the $25 from my withdrawal. In fact, I doubt they will even send me the money and I'll have to go back into the branch and they'll probably give me just $2,475 of my $2,500. And I WILL submit another complaint at that time.
