"Customer service is non-existent but order was processed efficiently"

Once ordered, the products were packaged well and dispatched quickly. However, I attempted to use the 'new customer' discount code given for signing up to their newsletter which had no mention of any restrictions on it's use, but the code was rejected as invalid for the products I was buying. I tried calling the company to ask about this and was immediately told they are not currently answering calls and to email instead before the call was cut. I therefore emailed to ask what the issue was with using the discount code and didn't get a reply until 9 days later saying that it's not valid on sale items, which wasn't mentioned anywhere on the original email which gave me the code. The representative on email was very apologetic and this is no reflection on her, but clearly the company doesn't hold customer service very high on their priorities as they are clearly woefully understaffed, though like I say the actual order was processed efficiently.
