"Contact is a problem."

Ordered 30 boxes of tea. After 6 weeks of no tea nor info I asked what went wrong. After the 4th time I finally got a personal answer and the promise it would be sent again. A week or so later I got 11 boxes of tea. I complained and asked for a refund but again no answer. Got a personal mail from the guy that got me sorted before and asked him for a refund…to be continued, ordered end of September. Turned out the problem was that I complained through a different email address. When I found out and told them about it I got my money back within 10 days.

Ryan made my experience great! I had submitted my order with a very incorrect delivery address. Ryan came through by ensuring the shipper intercepted the package and rerouted it to the proper address. Ryan was awesome at letting me know what he was doing to help me correct my blunder and it is to Ryan's efforts that I got our British chocolate just in time for the holidays! Thank you again Ryan!

UPDATE - Friday December 8th

Thank you for your mail asking me to list what was in the order placed in September. I am a bit puzzled by this because (1) the request for this information could have been placed when you received my mail on November 24th. I cannot understand why you offer on your website to reply within 48 working hours but your question has taken 14 days to write (2) you yourselves have a list of items ordered and those you sent. You shouldn’t need me to tell you. I have however attached a screenshot of the items that were ordered back in September and that I never received.

I have now been informed by the Danish customs authorities that you divided the original order into three small parcels. None of the three had any information on them about their contents or their value. An official suggested informally that your business model rested upon claiming to your customers (on your website) that you send the items with EU taxes etc paid (thereby justifying the high prices) but then divide orders into small unlabeled packages in the hope that they will then slip through the customs and regulatory checks that British exports to the EU face. In this case they didn’t. He suggested that this way of doing business would bring you in very large financial rewards.

Perhaps you would care to comment on these statements?

UPDATE - Friday November 24th My mail to the company (British Essentials): A parcel arrived this afternoon with about half the order placed in September - these goods are valued according to your invoice at 62.65 pounds. The total order was in Danish kroner but equivalent to about 137 pounds. There was no indication whatsoever whether the other half of the order is on its way or whether I am to receive a refund for the items that are missing. The tracking service gives no indication of a further parcel being in transit. Would you please immediately inform me what exactly is going on. You will, I am sure, appreciate that by this point I have no faith or trust in your company.

UPDATE - Tuesday November 7th - no reply from firm. I have now requested a full refund. If nothing is forthcoming I will have to look at options under both the civil and criminal law. I have come across poor service before now but never anything this bad.

ORIGINAL - I will update if I receive further information from the firm or if - and this seems increasingly unlikely I ever receive my order. I placed an order valued at about 140 UK pounds on September 22nd. According to the tracking info it left the UK (divided curiously into three packages .. we can speculate on the reasons for that) on September 25th. So far, so good. The packages were then - despite all the promises and assurances on the firm’s website - held by Danish customs and released on October 27th. According to the tracking info the postal service then attempted to deliver them 15 minutes later. It was midday and I was at work. I then received notification that the packages were being returned to sender. Customer service has for the most part been non-existent and they do not reply except on the day of customs release. I cannot tell exactly what is happening here. It appears that my order was not sent customs cleared or with any appropriate documentation. Maybe there’s a hope that goods will enter the EU under the radar? I don not know if this is the firm’s standard practice.
