I contacted StepChange in 2019 because of a large credit card debt that had become out of control. I had tried contacting the companies directly but didn't have much success and was receiving threatening letters. I became really worried and anxious with sleepless nights and found it really hard to focus at work and was worried I might lose my job as my performance was not good at that time. StepChange changed everything by acting on my behalf with my creditors and a DMP was put in place where I would pay off an amount every month across all of my credit card debts and got the interest frozen on my debt - that was a major turning point for me as the interest I had been paying every month was not going down and I couldn't see me ever paying off the debts. It's been a long haul but I've just finished paying off my debts and I'm so grateful to StepChange for helping me when I was at such a low point. I put my head in the sand for a long time before I admitted to anyone what problems I was facing but I would recommend contacting StepChange if you are facing problems with debt as they can and will help you. They have the influence and the respect with financial companies to help and really make a difference. I'm so glad I contacted StepChange, its no exaggeration to say that my life was turned around by their help. Because their services are such in demand their response times can be a little slow sometimes, but they always did respond and their advice was always worth waiting for.
