"I feel let down and cheated"

Today i needed a replacement lock cylinder, so I rang EM Locksmiths who sent their locksmith to my property. I was charged £130 for the new turnthumb cyclinder and £59 for the labour (15 mins total). my total bill was £226.80 inc VAT which I suspected was very expensive but I needed the work completing asap.
Later when i looked up the cost of the same cylinder used I was shocked to find I could buy the same part for £15 from Screwfix.
feel I totally let down by EM Locksmiths and feel cheated, ripped off and will never use EM Locksmiths again who supplied this locksmith United Locksmiths.
I see there are many bad reviews on this site and feel it only right to add another and a non recommendation for EM Locksmiths.
I rang EM Locksmiths to complain and was given an email address for customer services so as to log a complaint, I now realise the email address provided for customer services does not actually work.
Please stay away from this company.

Avoid at all costs! How a company like this is even operating I'll never know.

For a euro cylinder barrel change, including labour and parts I was quoted roughly £100 - 120 on the phone.

After the fitter arrived, he wasn't able to pick the lock and suggested that breaking it was his only option. It was not mentioned that doing so would cost an additional £84. Only after the lock was broken did he present the pricing of three cylinders (starting from £90 plus VAT). This was nowhere close to the pricing (from £30) that I was told on the phone.

The total cost was £262.80, exceptionally higher than quoted, and I was in no position to interrogate the pricing with the fitter in my home.

After phoning EM multiple times over the next few days I finally received an email address which didn't end up bouncing so that I could file a complaint. I then later received a reply from an Eden Mansoor.

Even though EM confirmed he did perform the work, he claims he didn't (as the invoice was issued by United Locksmiths) and I've received no further replies from him. From what I can gather, EM is an umbrella company which dishes out work to 3rd parties.

I'm not going to be taken advantage of by companies that operate scams like this. I'm going to take this issue forwards with an Ombudsman and Trading Standards. EM have been unwilling to provide any reasonable communication, explanation or resolution.

Wish I'd seen these reviews before getting these crooks out . Couldn't get in the house so it was an emergency. He quoted £100 for getting lock out of the door then £70-£90 to replace lock. Bill came to £286 . Yep that doesn't add up. There was also a call out fee he didn't mention plus this price was not with vat.
I feel like I've been scammed.
Stay away from these at all costs.

"Avoid this company"

Firstly, DO NOT USE.

A phone call to their office and you got told a price that doesn’t seem too unreasonable. Then they come out and suddenly the price is considerably more. Then the lad who comes out tells me they’re not a great company. A quick call back to the office and they say it’s up to the man on-site to decide the price.

The lock fitted is about £20 online, but cost £100 +VAT.

It costs £59 +VAT as a cancellation fee if you object to their on-site quote.

Shop around and get a good deal. Lesson learned.

Their website says they’ve got a 4.5 Trustpilot rating, which seems to be completely untrue.

"Locked keys in boot recovered!"

I unfortunately locked my keys in the boot of my car on a Sunday afternoon in the Peak District, which meant I couldn’t get into my house as everything was in my car. After calling the RAC, AA and other “24 hour” companies and being told no one could help until the next day, I was extremely appreciative that EM sent someone out on a Sunday night (with a lower quote than other companies) to come help me get back into my car! The men were friendly and punctual and were able to successfully unlock my car whilst also being careful not to damage it! I would fully recommend this company and in particular Jakub who was extremely helpful!

"Great service, worth every pound"

I couldn't lock my entry door. I called em locksmiths. Dan changed the lock, fixed hinges and some other mechanism, explaining everything clearly and calmly. He informed me about the cost of everything he was doing. I feel much more secure now. Worth every pound!

"Over charged and pressured into making…"

Over charged and pressured into making a payment. Paid £278 to have a lock replaced. After looking up what this should have cost I realise I have overpaid by £100.
