My le Chameau Chasseur leather lined wellies with zips developed a hole in the toe after 21 months since they were purchased.They leaked straight away while walking in wet grass.
I only wore them for 10 months max in that time as l found them heavy and uncomfortably warm in the warmer/ milder weather. In between l wore waterproof shoes.
I never used the zips.

Le Chameau refused to honour the warranty.

They told me that the warranty was almost out anyway and that l must have caught the boot in something.
The only place I wore them was in my field walking my dogs twice a day.
They were never exposed to anything that could damage them.

I argued my case and they said they would send me a patch to stick over the hole.

These boots cost me €430 and l honestly thought they would last way beyond the warranty and would be an investment.

I washed them after every use and used the le Chameau spray to protect the rubber.

I was completely shocked by le Chameau’s response.

Clearly if a hole comes in the rubber and the boots were looked after properly then the rubber must have been defective, a manufacturing defect.

Le Chameau should be avoided at all cost Their boots are inferior and overpriced.

Their customer service is shocking.
I asked them if a hole in the toe is different to a hole in the side of the foot or the sole and they refused to answer any questions.

All l did was wear the boots for 10 months.
I made it clear that I did not damage the boots and followed the care instructions to the last detail.
I must admit that it was very difficult despite all this to keep them their original green colour and they went discoloured/ black in places.

Another manufacturer defect as rubber that is looked after properly should at least remain its original colour.

I have read many reviews saying that the quality of the rubber used in manufacturing has deteriorated in recent years and I would agree with that entirely.

I kept them in my utility room where there was no heat source.

Shame on them for not honouring their two year warranty.

They are blatantly rude and won’t listen to anything you say.

Avoid at all costs.

£150 for a pair of boots leaking after 3 years of light to moderate use ... not sure they're worth the price. I have a pair of Dunlops which cost £20 and still keeping the water out after almost 10 years ...
