"GC Motors."

Bought an Aston Martin Vantage from GC Motors 2 weeks ago. Was dealt with by James & Rob who were both very knowledgeable. James was always available whenever i had a query & was brilliant throughout the whole buying & trade in process. Would definitely recommend GC motors to any of my friends.

Start to finish top service from Elliot and the team. The car itself is unreal. I would highly recommend GC motors to anyone in the market for a new vehicle.

"Just a big shout out for Elliott at GC…"

Just a big shout out for Elliott at GC Motors of Harrogate. In the past few weeks I have visited a number of car dealerships in my search for a specific make and model of vehicle. It is some years since a have 'trawled' car dealerships, and have been quite disappointed with the level of knowledge and professionalism of some of the salespeople I have met! However Elliott - a personable, articulate and knowledgeable young man - rekindled enthusiasm in my search. I'm the first to complain at poor service and professionalism - but also quick to give praise where its due. - Thank you from CC.

"Excellent service "

We dealt with James at GC motors and from the beginning of my enquiry to driving my new car away, the whole experience has been perfect and extremely professional and personalised.
We brought our children along and they had a great time viewing all the cars in the showroom and eating the biscuits provided.
I would highly GC motors and James to look after you and find you the perfect car.

"Was really let down with a failure to…"

Was really let down with a failure to sort problems, in my opinion I should have read the reviews before spending the money. I've purchased several cars in the past and this last one which btw was terrible it's Def the last time I'll even consider using them .

"Poor Aftersales, Avoid"

TLDR: Avoid, very poor aftercare. Once they have your money, you are no longer their prioity. If you are going to buy a car from here; do not sign anything until you are at the dealership, only talk to them on their business telephone number (so the calls are recorded), watch out for the £60 of fuel they will generously put in the car, not tell you about and charge you for, and finally get everything in writing.

I purchased a £53,000 Porsche, mostly a nice experience over whatsapp messages and calls, until I got to the showroom.

They will check your part-ex vehicle in great detail and deduct things that need doing from your deposite. They also booked us an appintment and didn't stick to it, we were booked in at 2pm and they didnt finish checking my part-ex until 5.30pm!

The Porsche I purchased started having problems around 5.45pm when we wanted to leave. They had 4-5 technicians looking at it, with no idea why it wouldnt start. Then someone showed up with a large bundle of fobs, without which the car wont start; the salesman forgot about them and had the fobs in his pocket when we started it for a test drive.

They claim to check their stock thoroughly before selling it, however, they had poor knowledge about the car (and Porsche in general) and did not understand how the car worked. I've had problems starting the car all week since getting it home.

Both sales and aftercare were not interested, they told me to call Porsche. They didn't tell me Porsche won't talk to anyone about the car until a transfer of ownership is complete.

They gave me paperwork with the car that had the origional owners; name, address, DoB, email and telephone number. As such I gave him a call and he explained exactly how the car worked and what was in it. Unfortunately, this is a very serious GDPR breach, it is more than enough information to steal someones identity.

I raised with them that the £60 fuel is an FCA breach, as it's on the finance agreement. Due to the strict FCA guidelines they have claimed they will refunded that quickly.

In total I spent about 10 hours of my own time figuring out the problems with the car.

Generally the staff are polite and cheerful, however, the leadership can't be trusted. The head of sales (Pete) claims he is the top employee at the business not realising the corporate structure is published on the website. Both Pete (head sales) and Paul (head service) did not want me to talk to their boss. I had to find his last name myself and guess his email address to make contact.

Paul the head of business is also a cheerful and seemingly compitent chap. But don't be fooled, based on my outcome he is only there to assess your complaints and ensure the minimal possible compensation is offered (if at all). To be fair to Paul, he did offer me a free service. But I could not accept due to the distance required to travel and a complete lack of trust. As such Paul was happy to part ways with a very dissatisfied customer.

They will out and out lie about calling you and even leaving voicemail messages, other customers have noted this in their reviews too.

The other director and owner Giles is a complete no show, lives abroad and has his email address blocked for customers.

Edit: Concerning Paul's reply below, there was no blackmail, this is a serious accusation you should take up with the Police and not post about in a review.
I asked for monetary compensation (instead of a free service) for the 10 hours of work I put into understanding the car, which their team should have done before selling the vehicle. Paul's response was that it would eat into his profits; I think that says it all.
Regarding Giles' email address, it is indeed blocked, your SMTP server told me. Please don't comment on technology you have no idea how it works... You barely understand how the cars work you're selling.
Since Paul has decided to spend more time replying to a review than dealing with dissatisfied customers; the second time I called Paul (because he promised to call me and didn't) he was chewing loudly down the phone, smacking his chops and huffing and puffing... Quite repulsive.
I am enjoying the new car, thank you, unfortunately it has very little to do with GC Motors efforts.
