"Delighted by the Result!"

First and foremost we are delighted by the final result: we have a new room in our loft which is a light, bright space, with great views over the garden and onwards, over the skyline, towards the Shard and the added bonus of plentiful under-eave storage. The new staircase has been built to match the original Edwardian staircase, which now flows elegantly from the ground to third floor.
Huw Davies, Central London Lofts’ sales representative was our first point of contact and had several meetings with us. His straight-forward and useful advice, including sketching out the project, persuaded us that Central London Lofts (CLL) were, out of the three quotes received, the best people to undertake the job. After protracted negotiations over planning, largely caused by the external architect, the project finally got under way in early November. The Senior Project Manager, Barry Chown had several meetings with us before we got underway, to ensure that our expectations regarding design and finish were fully understood and met.
Barry has been a ‘star’ throughout the project, which has not been without an occasional challenge or two - always dealt with considerable empathy and pragmatism. Those on his team, and especially Aivaras (we called him Ivor) who was the foreman installer/fitter who expertly led the day-to-day construction, were courteous, considerate, quiet and pleasant people to have in the house. The quality of the materials and workmanship has been excellent.
We have been greatly reassured by Barry’s obvious knowledge and experience of loft conversions. His ability to remedy any mishaps caused by suppliers, and by his natural charm and diplomacy which was called upon from time to time, was greatly appreciated.
We would definitely recommend this company to others.

"Loft conversion - London SW17 Jan/Feb 2018 UPDATED 19TH JUNE 2018"

We cannot fault Ali Seyit and his building team with Mindygus and Reza; they often worked long hours, and on Saturdays. Mindy was fantastic; he 'listened' and empathised with our ideas, and nothing was ever too much trouble, to sort. Together, they finished our new build in a total of 6 weeks; they made all our plans, and dreams happen, very quickly and seemlessly. Ditto, their plasterers, brickies, plumbers, electricians; not forgetting the 'stairs guy', who was a clever designer and helped us to gain more space, in a very tiny house. We now have a beautiful double bedroom and a perfect en-suite. Central London Lofts pulled out all stops to get this done for us, in record time. Finally, we have to mention "The A13 Scaffolders" who were incredible. Everyone was friendly, reliable, responsibe and respectful. We are so appreciative and grateful for the caring and generous service we've received from them, over these last few weeks. P.S. This is a genuine customer review and we are not connected in any way with Central London Lofts Veronica & Philip Mills

A DISAPPOINTING UPDATE: Very poor after-service from Central Lofts. There is an inherent arrogance amongst some of it's managers and personnel.

We have had problems with a newly installed internal bedroom door. The lock jammed the door shut; the whole door split on freeing it and while trying to replace the handle/lock. The doors and hinges are the cheapest you could find on the market. We have now replaced the doors with solid wooden ones. Our joiner said that the hinges too, are the cheapest of zinc plated hinges and would fail sooner or later. Ditto the door.....that it would begin to delaminate with time.

When we contacted a manager, Mr Renates, at Central Lofts, he sent around Eieves to inspect the damage. Eieves looked at the damage, couldn't listen to my explanation of what happened and said that we had caused the problem.... and he just laughed at us; Eieves phoned Mr Renates and they both laughed and joked on the phone. Eieves then said the charge would be £380 to fix the door! My husband phoned up later and spoke with Barry. The charge would be £90/door to put right. In the end we used our own joiner.

This kind of ridiculously insulting behaviour should never be tolerated. Particularly from a company pretending to produce high quality, bespoke work. We spent £37,750 for this loft extension. After such a good job initially, I would now beware of using them. It seems the 10 year building guarantee or Customer Service, means nothing to them.

No wonder they've lost business to other competitors in our area.

"They are a friendly and honest company"

David visited us three times and we felt comfortable with him and that he and the company was honest, we trusted him, he did not give us any hard sell. Everything we asked for was achievable compared to other companies that pulled faces when I asked for the stairs to go where they are now. I felt like they had done this many times before and we were in good hands.

Barry and every single person that was sent to us to work where all friendly and happy to listen to our needs and answer any questions.

The builders who did the construction part; stripping the loft, removing the room, building the dormer, the floors, the walls, the windows where incredible in the speed at which they worked. Every day multiple times a day I would go up and check and they didn't make me feel like I was being nosy, and they were always happy to talk to me about what they were doing, which I love because I like to know everything LOL. And I was always impressed how rock solid everything was, they practically rebuild the whole roof structure from the inside.

The whole process was pretty painless, I would just advise that if you are having your loft done, you really want to be there every day because you need to tell them where everything is going and you need all your bits and bobs for the bathrooms, lights etc.

We started with a two bedroom flat and now have an amazing 4 bedroom flat that now feels like a house.

One of the things I liked was that they are not a company that are stingy, if we wanted something different than the original specification as long as it wasn't anything major they were very accommodating.

On the whole, the important thing is that if we needed a loft done again we would use them again.

"Very happy with the result"

Having not done work at scale of a house before the number of options, companies and opinion available was initially a challenge to process. However, Central London Lofts from the outset were attentive, clear and willing to work with us to find a solution that worked – and stood out when we came to making a decision. With some nuances that meant the work was not a 100% straight forward L shaped dormer, Huw’s commitment did not stop at the contract moreover continued in accommodating questions throughout the 3rd Party agreement and to the point when the work was ready to be handed over to the project manager.

Paul and his team were charged with the work and although there were a couple of small delays with scaffolders, the build went to very much to plan. The team were friendly, conscientious throughout the build and did their best to ensure that the disruption and mess was kept to a minimum. Something we had really appreciated with a young family. Paul was always at hand if we wanted a conversation, listened to feedback and comments, was willing to pop round at short notice and as we moved to the end of the build could coordinate the other items of the work we’d wanted done including wardrobes, painting and bathroom tiling. We’ve ended up with a really nice job and something that we are very happy with. Based upon our experience, I recommend CLL and want to thank Huw, Paul and Barry for the work they’ve completed for us.

"Loft conversion Surrey"

Ali and his team did a great job with the loft conversion. When we had problems, gave options and suggestions. Made efforts to attend meetings at awkward hours. Builders (Greg) were very good, polite and tidied up after themselves. One general point on the downside would be to double check the architecture drawings yourself as they are only intended as a guide, otherwise you could end up having to make changes

"Excellent experience of Central London Lofts"

Our experience of Central London Lofts has been excellent from start to finish.

The job was to loft conversion to create a new master bedroom and shower room, adding a new staircase to the top floor and replacing the old boiler with an efficient combi. We asked CLL to change the bannisters on the existing staircase too.

We invited CLL to quote based on the work they did to one of our neighbour's home but it was by no means a done deal. Other firms were called in to pitch too. Huw won us over with his understanding of what we were looking for, the company's experience of houses of exactly our type, a reasonable price that promised good value and expertise and by not spending hours in our home giving the hard sell, which is a sure fire way to put us off!

Gee was our project manager and was excellent at making sure the process ran smoothly. On the rare occasion things needed putting right, he saw to it that it was done so quickly and correctly, regularly checking the work throughout the build.

And by ensuring the timely delivery of materials and subcontractors, the main on site team of John, Mark and Alex were able to work at considerable speed. As I work from home I was able to marvel at the pace these guys kept while at the same time appreciating that working fast did mean sloppy finishes. They demonstrated fine attention to detail and pride in their work.

Anthony and his plumbing team were fantastic and incredibly helpful and we're thrilled with our shiny new shower room. We've yet to move up into the loft though so it's the boiler that has made the biggest difference to our lives so far and Anthony was great at talking through our options and making sure we made decisions that were right for us.

The team of electricians (so many of them and I didn't catch all their names I'm afraid) were brilliant too, again helping me to make choices that will positively influence our living experience once we've moved into the new space.

We are, I think, the third or fourth household on our street alone that has used CLL to enhance our home. And we may not be the last as another neighbour has asked to see how our loft conversion has turned out with a view to doing the same. As I understand it, it wasn't the most straightforward job but honestly, you wouldn't know it based on the way Gee and his team worked and the quality of the end result.

Thank you Gee - I look forward to welcoming you back to see the space once it is fully decorated and furnished. No doubt Betsy (the goldendoodle) will be pleased to see you too!

"Great loft dormer and bathroom"

We have just had a loft extension and bathroom installed by the team at CLL and we’re very happy with the results. The project was coordinated very well between myself and the different tradesman who needed to come in. The job it self was put together on time (ahead of schedule if anything) which I was very pleased about. The builders we had at the start were simply fantastic (took the roof off, built in the new structures and walls). All tradesman we’re clean, polite and helpful. We’re very pleased with our end result and would highly recommend the company for any conversions needed. We’re very happy with CLL.

"Just hope that your neighbours don't use this company for their loft conversion..."

This company started work on a loft conversion for my next-door neighbour on November 13th. He tells me that they were delayed because of the incompetence of CLL's architect, who drew up incorrect plans. The scaffolding went up a couple of weeks previously, with just three sections of the vertical chute for waste connected. The remaining sections were left lying on my neighbour's front garden, to presumably be added when the skip had been delivered. When the team arrived on the first day, they failed to add these sections, nor did they put up any dust sheets on each side of the scaffolding to protect my property and the property of the neighbour on the other side. I thought that this meant that when they dropped waste into the top of the chute, it fell around a dozen feet through the air into the skip. However I have since discovered that they didn't even use the chute, they just dropped waste from the top of the scaffolding in to the skip. It also appears that they were sawing up there in the open air, with the result that debris was blown across onto my property covering my wife's car and my (very expensive) sports car with dust and wood chippings. There was no answer from the company's general enquiries line and the only person I could reach at the company was on the sales line. I explained the situation, and she said that she would talk to them and get someone back to me. My wife attempted to talk to the team doing the work; there is no foreman and those working were Eastern European (?) with such poor English that all they did was shrug shoulders and laugh at her. I never did hear back, as they preferred to call my wife, obviously thinking that it would be easier to bully a woman. They did agree to put up some protective sheeting, but only put it on our side, just down the side of the scaffolding, which was rather half-hearted. In addition, rather than using proper dust sheeting, with reinforced eyes at the edges so that it could be tied securely to the scaffolding they just used a roll of thick plastic, which appears to be secured at the top (not sure how) but at the sides all they did was make holes in it and push it over the ends of scaffolding poles and at the bottom just pushed it between the scaffolding and my neighbour's yew hedge. This of course proved to be completely unsatisfactory in the strong winds of the night of November 22nd, when it came off at the sides and lifted up at the bottom, billowing out in the wind, making an incredible noise and giving us a disturbed night. Add to this their inconsiderate parking, partly blocking the exit from our driveway, and you can see why I am not a fan.

They did try to block my review, saying that they didn't know who posted it and they through it must be a competitor! I can categorically state that I am not a competitor, and this was claim was disingenuous; they knew perfectly well the property to which I am referring, asking my wife to remove the review. I note that if you click on the Trustpilot logo on their website it shows selected reviews, only by clicking on the stars do you actually access the Trustpilot website and see all the reviews.

"loft ensuite bedroom …"

To note, the building of my loft ensuite bedroom suffered from many delays. Some from supply and others from project management. But as a whole I would absolutely recommend this company. From -the wonderful Huw who was quicker than any other to respond to my query, to Barry, to the building team Mark and Mason, to Jon the plumber a special thanks (who found a lost family heirloom, could have kept it, for we would have been none the wiser but returned it) and Eric the electrician, Gregory and the plasterer and tilers- everyone was not just polite and helpful but also of good humour. They were always available by phone and contacted me to explain any delay. Their work is solid and of a very professional standard. I was in awe of the finished project. Months down the line now and no leaks or cracks.
The one thing that stood out from having been to many friends houses with lofts is that our loft staircase is wider. Matches the downstairs one almost exactly. So the flow is great.
Neighbours have commented at how beautiful it looks from the outside too. Not like a box sitting atop. The house is semi detached, next to a lane and the roof line they built on the side runs triangular. So from a design point they are definitely better than most other companies.
And from all the quotes I got, not any more expensive.
