Used Kwickshift Removals to do my house move. The lads that turned up went above and beyond, nothing was too much trouble for them. They made the move so easy and stress free for me. This review has taken me over one month to write, as i have been left traumatized by the whole situation. On Tuesday 23rd July, 3 removal men from Kwikshift Removals came to load my furniture from Birkenhead , and into storage overnight , as i was moving to Dorset the following day. These 3 men did a good job, and i gave 1 of them £30, on his way out , to share with the other two that were already downstairs in the van.
Because my furniture was going into storage overnight , i took with me, on the train down to Weymouth, a large amount of cash, exactly £4,970, which i had been saving over a long period of time , to cover quotes for damp work and electrics at my new home, ready to begin straight away. Also my jewellery was in the same bag, because of this move, approximate value £500. I had saved £5,000 in total, but taken out £30 to give the 3 men a tip on the 23rd Julywhen they loaded up.
It was arranged that i would be at the house on Wednesday 24th July, at 11 0'clock, with the keys, ready for unloading my furniture. I came into my new home at this time, and went upstairs, and put this money/ jewellery, which was in three bags, into the wardrobe, which unfortunately did not have a lock on it, and placed my coat on top of the bags.
These two removal men named Ant and Alan, arrived just after midday. They began unloading the furniture. A few hours later, i stepped outside to see how much more had to be brought in from the van and as there were only a few more things to unload, (noticed one shoe and hanging rack broken in the back of the van ) So i went upstairs to get some cash to give them both a tip, that's when i realized they had taken the wallet with all the cash and jewellery , which they must have tipped out of the other bag it was all in. I rushed downstairs to confront them , and they denied it, and started to blame the three men the day before first. Then when i said this money / jewellery came with me into this house at 11 0'clock on the 24th July, they then said "I must be confused" i will help you find it !
I telephoned the Company as i was distraught by then , because they were about to drive off. The only response from the Company was , that's a serious accusation, and i said that it was the truth. I was in a helpless situation , but fortunately a neighbour was walking along the road, and could see how upset i was, so took me to his house to call the Police , which was done in the afternoon of the 24th July.
This is now an ongoing Police Investigation.
I am now in a desperate situation financially, so have had to cancel the damp work on my new home. And it's probably unlikely that i will ever see my money or jewellery returned to me.
But my one desire for JUSTICE is to see that these two thieves are sacked, so they never have the chance to enter anyone elses homes, and put anyone else through what i have been through. Not sure which one took the bag out of the wardrobe, but they both knew about it, as i confronted them before they drove off.
The other response from the Company , on my later telephone call was "They have worked for us for 16 years " I dread to think about other peoples belongings over the last 16 years. But i can not comment on this, although other reviews , i certainly believe.
Or maybe they took this opportunity now, because i am elderly. But i am not confused in any way. I brought this money / Jewellery into this new home at 11 0'clock on the 24th July , and i know exactly were i put it. There was no reason for them having to go into this wardrobe , apart from stealing my cash and Jewellery
They were the only people in this house from when they arrived after midday.
