"120 gallon barrel adventure"

I bought a 120 gallon dumpy whisky barrel with seat to use for dipping in the garden. I am 170 cm tall and use a little garden stool to get in and out. The internal seat is great to help with the gradual immersion of the body into the cold water.
The history, boozy smell (saddly becoming less and less), and the natural wood make the barrel a real feature in the garden.
Maneuvering the 135kg barrel into place required 3 careful people, but it was doable in the end.
The lid is heavy but manageable. CT have been very responsive with regards to some leaking issues and I have a watertight barrel now which I use with great enthusiasm most days.

Ordered 8" x 8" x 5' part worked oak beam on Sunday 8th September it was delivered to Scotland on Sunday 15th September. The company provides useful installation guides on YouTube. Allowing for the beam to acclimatize before oiling, the beam was fitted Tuesday 24th. We are delighted with the beam and the exceptional service from Celtic Timber. Many thanks.

"A disappointing experience."

A disappointing experience.
I had heard good things about the company and decided to give them a try.
Ordered boards with a full bull nose but all came with only an edge round, one board also had dead knots on both sides of the board.
Company refused to acknowledge the problems, and offered to send a courier and a refund.
I would have expected them to at least offer to send a set of replacements with the courier (without the refund clearly).
Unfortunately this would mean that I would have to re-pack them up, spend a day waiting for a courier on site, and re-arrange my week.
As this is a family business I’ll chalk it down to a uniquely poor set of circumstances, but I won’t be using them again nor am able to recommend them to others.

Bought an oak beam to go over our fireplace and wood burning stove. Good price, arrived in the advertised time, well packaged. We went for planed & unfinished - a beautiful & characterful beam which looks even better than the website pictures. It really will be a focal point of the room.
Two cautions - check with a qualified person on where a beam can fit relative to stove and flue (distance to combustables).
- our beam is 6 x 4 inches by 5 feet - it's not exactly light to carry unless you're used to that sort of thing.

Ordered an oak beam on the Saturday and it was delivered on Friday. I was a little bit dubious as to what it would look like when it arrived as not being able to 'choose' the beam was a worry for me, but I am over the moon with the beam that was sent. The little planning that was done, looks authentic and adds character to the beam. The packaging was well thought out and provided perfect protection. I would highly recommend.

Not delivered on the date promised
Dumped at the bottom of my drive instead of close to the log store as usual
Although the wood is dry, each piece is caked in mud
Pieces are much bigger than usual.
