A very positive end to the repair of my LR RRS by NWS Motor Services.
1. My RRS which at the time had completed only 36,560 miles had sudden major loss of power and disturbing rattling noise when started with the engine idling over.
2. In my general research, I soon realised from several very experienced ex-LR mechanics who all had major experiences of LR’s, that there was a serious problem that was way beyond their remit and to be honest, I was not willing to commit what was going to be ‘apparently’ more than £10,000+ to rectify.
3. This avenue of initial researched included LR Christchurch, Dorset whose immediate answer was either a ‘reconditioned engine’ at £18-20000 or a ‘new engine’ at £24,000, this notwithstanding that the car had been regularly serviced by them for the initial five (5) years and thereafter, a very respected local LR outlet closer to home and with realistic service/repair prices….so all in all, a full-service history.
4. At this point I started to conduct more detailed research on specialized companies who had the experience, background and trusted reviews in order get my RRS back on the road.
5. It seemed at the time that there were several capable companies and via initial telephone calls I settled for three (3) possibles. I then visited each individual company which, I would strongly recommend to any person who may experience similar symptoms to their LR. I was disappointed with the my initial two (2) visited; for me, anyway, failed to maintain what they freely advertised online; the caveat being here, whilst I am sure they are excellent mechanics etc, my initial impressions of their premises/workshop/inter-customer care were to say the very least, very poor.
Note; (reception room not operational; poorly briefed on repair procedures and costings, briefed outside in the rain and whilst I totally understand H&S procedures and it is a vehicle workshop, from the outside looking in it looked total mess & disorganised….as I saw it, not a good first impressions that they as a company surely want to advertise!!)
6. My last visit was to NWS Motor Services; on arrival from the outside, it was clear that NWS had their s..t together; impressive and exactly as per advertised on their website.
7. On entry to their reception area which was immaculate I was greeted by Ashley who as per our recent Telcom, again explained to me in detail with the help of several engine blocks (for briefing purposes) the possible problems of my RRS with approximate costings at each stage. Further, the seller/customer interaction was excellent, I was afforded all the time needed to answer all my questions/queries & concerns. From this professional interaction, I confidently booked my RRS into NWS’s doctor surgery.
8. The RRS was picked on the agreed date/time. Kudos must also go the driver who treated my RRS as his own; no stone unturned to ensure safe passage to NWS. My RRS was with NWS for nearly six (6) weeks with a couple ‘of Telecoms’ updates from Josh/Ashley on findings, costings and progress of the repair. On completion of the repair which amounted to the following.
a. A Range Rover Sport Fully Reconditioned Engine,
b. New Cast Crankshaft,
c. New Oil Cooler &
d. DPS Cleaned and Checked.
9. On arrival at Whitchurch railway station, I was met by Josh in my RRS. We drove back to NWS workshop where I was briefed on the above repair in detail, cost and the cause; they highlighted that the engine failure would not have been identified by any servicing mechanic; it was very much an internal failure. (probably a Monday or Friday built RRS!!)
10. I was also shown around their workshop/staff and the documented stages of the repair that my RRS went through …..impressed and a sincere thanks to all concerned. To date the RRS is running smoothly while religiously maintaining the warranty requirement set out by NWS.
I have no hesitation in recommending NWS for any LR repair or servicing; if they were closer to me, unfortunately I live in Dorset, this is where my LR’s would be serviced/repaired. Once again, a sincere thanks to Josh, Ashley and team, so appreciated, thank you.

Ok I would first of all thank Josh and Ashley at NWS.for their complete honest work and attitude regarding my issues with my range rover sport 49000 miles old with a snapped crank .
I first went to my main dealer who sold me the car and was advised that it's a one off and said it's a big job to do and cannot even look at it for 2 months and had serviced it from new .
Right so I started to look online for help and found a company in London who said they could pick the car I
Free of charge and repair it for £5000 wow that's a deal until they turned up with a knackerd.old range rover and a trailer.....alarm bells started ringing and
if they took the car thought i would never see it again so I declined .......ok on to the good.news.I again did a.log of research and found NWS. Read all the reviews and was satisfied to hand over my beloved car to them and arrange for collection the driver could not have been better the car had stood for 2 months on my drive way and not easy to load ....no problem for him job sorted.
So I left to NWS.to do their there job .....had a few calls each way regarding the engine problems and was always updated in a very professional manner and no nasty surprises of extra costings etc.
Ok picked my car up today and was greeted by Josh and Ashley who escorted me around their factory and I witnessed the attention to detail and the professional people working with them ( like me some old boys who you can tell love their job and have pride in their work)
So to sum it all up I drove away with a genuine 30000 mile warranty my car valetted and a big smile on my face .

And to complete this after seeing all the cars they have in with the same issues some with only 16000 miles just out of warranty who JLR. Will say it's a one off I will be setting up a web site in the next few weeks.
Range rover cracked cranks for no gains but to bring JLR. to admit that it's not a one off

"Excellent, Professional company"
The guys at NWS are very knowledgeable and professional. My Ingenium engine imploded last March and left us stranded in Sheffield. They picked up the car and fitted a fully reconditioned engine which subsequently ran beautifully. It developed a minor engine warning light several months later, which was remedied without quibble under warranty. Very friendly people and great communication. I would recommend these to anyone with JLR engine issues.
