Alpy Transfers

"They make changes to their schedule then charge you for any change"
Had a transfer booked from Chamonix to Geneva Airport with Alpytransfer for myself and the family. The day before the transfer they changed the transfer time, meaning I would not arrive at the airport in time for our flight. After contacting them, they offered an earlier transfer, but as well as charging the price difference of the earlier transfer (as it was a door to door service), they tried to charge me for a change fee as well, even though they forced the change by moving their transfer time. In total the additional cost of the change and their change fee was more than the cost of the original tickets. I then asked if I could be refunded and I'd book with an alternative company, but they refused, citing T's and C's. Disgraceful behaviour, will never book them again or recommend them.

"A nightmare of a bus company"
A nightmare of a bus company. One day before my trip, I received an email telling me that I had to be at the pick-up 2 hours early. I didn't understand what this was all about - because I didn't know what this pick-up was for (I can walk to the bus stop on my own). It turned out that Alpy wanted to tell me very cryptically that the bus was leaving 2 hours earlier - which was not in the email. As I had booked the bus after a flight, it would not have been possible for me to take the bus 2 hours earlier anyway.
In addition, the email was without a salutation or anything else, so I initially thought it was spam. It is not possible to contact the company by phone if there are any problems. I gave my cell phone number in several emails and asked for an urgent call back - which never came. I just hope I get my money back now. A disaster on all levels - definitely never again.

Made a trip with Paulo from Chamonix to Geneva airport. His service was great since arrival. He helped me out the bags on the bus and had my reservation at hand. We left and arrived on time. Greatly recommended

"You might get totally ripped off if flight is delayed"
We booked a transfer a few weeks in advance. The booking form stated that the driver would wait for free for up to an hour, but charges would apply after this. Nothing more was highlighted, so we had assumed such charges would be reasonable. I’m guessing the full amounts were buried somewhere in a long set of T&Cs, but they certainly weren’t transparently set out on the main booking form (and when T&Cs were mentioned, I don’t believe they were even hyperlinked in the PDF form).
Our flight from Luton ended up being two hours delayed. We called from Luton airport (around 4-5 hours before our scheduled pick up time) to let them know about the delay, and were then told that the “late” fees were in fact an additional 20% of the fee we paid for EACH HOUR of any further delay (the amount we were actually charged suggests it’s more than 20% in reality).
We of course had no choice but to agree at this stage, so left it at that.
My wife then as a courtesy called them right before our flight took off, just to say there would be no further delay above and beyond the two hours. At this point, she was told that if we didn’t immediately pay the fine, nobody would be waiting for us at Geneva airport 2 hours later (regardless of the fact we had already spent ~£900 on a return private transfer!!).
We were not told at any point during the first call that payment had to be made in advance, otherwise we could have easily done this from the airport. The company also made no effort to contact us after the first call to tell us to make the payment.
So it seems that had my wife not called a second time (unprompted), we would have been stranded with two young kids (aged 6 and 3) at around 10.20pm, 3 hours away from our hotel. When my wife raised this during the second call, this was essentially confirmed by the customer service representative!
My wife therefore sat on her phone whilst on the plane, desperately trying to make an online payment (with dodgy internet and an air stewardess telling her to put her phone away, whilst trying to look after our 3 year old). We were eventually charged over £100 for the additional hour, without even seeing an invoice to explain why the amount was higher than 20% of the price we paid for the first transfer (we asked for an invoice but were told there was no time).
It can be impossible to accurately predict the extent of a delay in advance (it could have been longer, had issues arisen when we were in the air, or shorter!). This means it’s impossible to predict the full extent of the fine in advance, which in turn suggests you can never fully protect against a driver simply leaving you stranded upon your arrival.
It makes no sense to charge in advance, especially with no assurances of a partial refund if the delay ends up being shorter. It was all pretty horrendous - zero empathy for children or families. It felt like borderline extortion.
Our driver was friendly, and I’m sure had we not been delayed we wouldn’t have had an issue. But just beware that if - for example - you are delayed and don’t have the chance to notify the company or make a payment in advance, you may well end up well and truly screwed! Also budget for many hundreds of pounds in additional fines in case your flight is severely delayed!

"Paulo was a kind, polite and safe driver …"
After a few bad experiences with unkind drivers, Paulo was a nice surprise. Kind and polite, he introduced himself, proposed water and sweets and drove safely.
