"I booked a private eye test at Marks…"
I booked a private eye test at Marks and Spencer in Meadowhall. My eye test was very good, the condition dry eye which I have was explained to me in detail.
The 3 staff on the floor were useless and uninterested. Not a smile between them. Every time I wanted to try a designer pair of glasses on I had to attract the attention of one of them to open the lock. Why are they locked? Very annoying not being able to just try them on as you do in the Opticians on the high street. At 5 pm they cleared all the designer sun glasses away. I was looking for distance and sunglasses. I asked the time they closed which was 6 pm. Sadly I won’t be returning to this store for glasses. The staff could do with training in customer care !

"I thought the free hearing test was the…"
I thought the free hearing test was the best hearing test I have ever had. It was very thorough. My results were not positive but the lady audiologist explained what the tests meant and what my next step could be. Also I was explained the types of hearing aids and the free trial; payment plans and after care service.
Basically everything to alleviate my fears and an idea of how much the costs would be if I decided to go ahead

"I saw the sign for 2 for one glasses on…"
I saw the sign for 2 for one glasses on all glasses.....however, at the time of order this was not the case.... i wanted reading and driving glasses..but because this was 2 prescriptions... i could not have this offer.... this should have been advised at the point of booking the eye test.2 weeks later and I am still waiting for my glasses. The staff were lovely but the terms and conditions are very confusing.

"INCORRECT PRESCRIPTION BROMLEY"
I got my eyes tested at Marks & Spencer’s Bromley back in October 2023 and when i got my glasses i could barely see. When I went back to them a few weeks later to discuss this they were very dismissive and rude and didn’t retest my eyes as they insisted it was the people who made my glasses and not their prescription. I checked with the people who made my glasses who checked the glasses and they were correct to the prescription I was given. I then went back on a separate occasion to get my glasses tested at Marks & Spencer’s which they wouldn’t do.
I then walked down to Specsavers to have an eye test and my prescription came back very different to the M&S one and when I had my glasses relensed with this new prescription I could see clearly.
The customer service is not what you expect from Marks and Spencer’s so be warned.
I have complained about my experience and all they offered me was a £25 gift voucher even though I have had to pay for 2 separate eye tests, have to go into Bromley on 3 separate occasions and have my glasses relensed all at a cost to me.

"I brought some polo Ralph Lorraine…"
I brought some polo Ralph Lorraine glasses from Marks & Spencer‘s a year ago and the lenses kept falling out. I took them back three times and they put them back in and clean them. On the last occasion. They said if it happens again we will send them away, I took them back in January For the fourth time to Marks & Spencer‘s in Kingston upon Thames and spoke to the manager, David Osborne who was very unhelpful. Didn’t want to send them away. After a long conversation. He has sent them away to have the lenses put back in properly as they should’ve been in the first place if I’m honest, the prescription of the glasses was better before I went to Marks & Spencer‘s, but I guess I should’ve mentioned that earlier. My experience after speaking to David Osborne is that I should never use Marks & Spencer’s again very unhelpful and no customer care I paid £550 for two pairs of glasses And I never expected the lenses to keep falling out that was not my fault but it’s made me realise I’ll go back to Specsavers. We all have different experiences. Marks & Spencer‘s opticians is not for me again. Bad Service once is enough for me to look somewhere else.

"Shabby service and I have been lied to…"
Shabby service and I have been lied to . I sent my glasses to be fixed as a pin had dropped out . I sent them mid December . I followed up with a call at the end of december and they fobbed me off with it takes 4 to 5 weeks.I waited but no word from m@s . I phoned them 2 weeks ago to be told they had been sent out but couldn’t give me a date as they didn’t know . I’ll tell you why they didn’t know they were still in the shop and probably didn’t bother fixing them. A week went by and I called them again to be told they posted them out they must have got lost in the post. They told me a replacement pair would be sent bynext day delivery .
Well it wasn’t next day as I received them four days later. First time wearing them I had a good look at them while at work and one side was much tighter than the other side and you guessed it the pin fell out again.
At this stage I can only surmise that they found them and popped a pin in and didn’t examine them to see if they had been fixed properly or just didn’t care.
They were definitely the same glasses I sent so once again m@s had lied to me about sending me a replacement pair . They obviously had them at the shop all the time but since I kept on chasing them they had to hurry around and try to find them .
This is appalling I have waited 8 weeks for a replacement pin only to have the same broken ones sent back to me .
I would like to know who is in charge of the opticians as surely this can’t be right . The level of service has been abysmal and no aftercare at all. I will be sending these glasses back to m& s and I will be writing to the CEO as I have just had enough of chasing and getting lied too . You have not fixed my glasses and I am still without a pair. I now want a refund and will send these glasses back. I’ve lost all faith in your brand .
If anyone is reading this please don’t buy glasses from m@s you will be lucky if you get them back plus they still won’t have fixed them . Don’t do it . I will be sending these glasses back to m@s at the end of the week and I want a refund as I have had enough of running around after me@s to do the right thing . It will never happen.

I didn’t even realise M&S had an opticians. I went there yesterday on 18th January 2024 and everyone who I encountered were excellent and they were very friendly and knowledgeable. The optician who saw me is in her final year of training. I wish her well for the future.

"Plymouth branch is outstanding"
I went to the Plymouth branch and this really is the best opticians I’ve been to. The eye test by Ms Jennings was the most thorough I’ve had, she was friendly and professional. Harriet who carried out preliminary tests was also very friendly and helpful. I went back today a week later to choose some glasses there was no hard sell I could take my time. I received more advice from Ms Jennings and Harriet. Karla and Tom also helped and double checked that everything was right. It is an opticians with a difference and the difference is excellent. I am recommending to friends and family.

"The best experience at any opticians, in 40 years!"
After a lack lustre experience at one of the mainstream, national opticians - resulting, in my new glasses being far less than expected and shunted to the back of the drawer; I spotted M & S opticians at the Cheshire Oaks store. In complete contrast to my recent, bad experince, this branch of M &S opticians was outstanding in every sense of the word. Their selection of glasses was exceptional. Instead of finding a pair you like, and ending up compromising - it was more like 10 pairs that you had to break down in choice to a couple. However, the main reason for my 5 stars, without hesitation - is the team that dealt with me. They were exceptionally kind, professional, and shared an abundance of knowledge. Most importantly, they listened carefully to what I wanted from my choice. My main assistance came from Lola. This beautiful lady was so generous with her time; support and wisdom - she made the whole expetience a joy! Complementing my experience, Ali, was charming, personable and took time ensuring that my glasses lenses were perfect, in addition to assisting me with contact lenses that I had also chose to purchase. On the collection of my glasses, I received the same enthusiastic service from Lola, and this time it was Amran who double checked my contact lenses strength and listened carefully to my needs relating to when and where I would be using them. Yet another charming and personable member of the team, at Cheshire Oaks. It goes without saying that I both recommend the company and the superb professionalism of the team that dealt with me. I have no hesitation in using them again. Never, in 40 years, have I come away from an opticians so delighted.
