"Stopped communicating and couldn’t get our stuff "

We got sold on the company by Edward who seems kind. But after we booked he was hard to get a response from. Then he disappeared altogether. Now we don’t know where our stuff is and we’re on the other side of the country without our beds, clothes, furniture etc.

Steer clear of a company you can’t communicate with who just drops you. And charges you $10,000.

"Safeway Moving overcharged me - and will not call me back"

Safeway Moving overcharged me by $600 and will not respond to any of my attempts to contact them. Safeway Moving gave me an initial estimate based on what I said was in my house that was a great value so I went with them. Then, a few days before the moving truck arrived, they asked how many plastic bins I had in the house. They then jacked the estimate way up – at this point it was too late to find someone else – but promised it was just an estimate and that I would only be charged for the actual amount of space my goods took up. Ultimately though, they still did the math wrong and overcharged me by over $600.

Since that phone call, no one from Safeway has responded to the 10 plus emails I have sent. This is why I’m giving them such a low rating. A moving company should at least do the courtesy of responding to you when you disagree with something they have done.

"Disappointing Experience with Safeway Moving"

I recently used Safeway Moving for my relocation, and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. Here are the main issues I encountered:

Poor Communication: The company failed to keep me updated throughout the moving process. I had to constantly reach out to get any information about the status of my move.

Damaged Items: Several of my belongings arrived damaged. Despite the company's assurances of careful handling, it was clear that my items were not treated with the promised care.

Hidden Fees: The final bill included several unexpected charges that were not disclosed upfront. This made the move significantly more expensive than initially quoted.

Unprofessional Staff: The movers were not as professional as I expected. They were late, and some of them were quite rude when I asked questions about the process.

Overall, I am very disappointed with the service provided by Safeway Moving and would not recommend them to others.

The service was top-notch the whole time. Professional movers took care of my move, packing all off my things and setting them up in my new home. This move was the best of the three because I didn't find any damage to my things.

"Veterans BEWARE"

Veterans BEWARE, this is not what you expect.

I strongly recommend you do not use this company. I have numerous complaints I will detail below, but the TLDR: Too Long Didn’t Read version would be my most significant complaints: Poor communication and Dishonesty. If you want more details, my catharsis follows:

They charged extra for my tool chest because they said it needed to be packed specially against the truck frame and they lost additional space as they didn't pack things on top. This is a lie, I watched them unload it out of the middle of the truck. This never made sense anyways, it's on wheels and not much heavier than a piece of furniture made of wood. That's a $250 lie.

They said they needed a shuttle to deliver my goods. When we were getting the initial quote, they determined they could get to my address. This is a county road in Texas, trucks, flatbeds, tractors, etc. have no issue transiting here. The following lies ensued:

"The gate is too small" My gate is two gates side-by-side and the total width is over 14-feet. The maximum width of a non-oversized tractor trailer per the Federal Highway Administration is 8.5 feet.

"Too many trees on property" There are zero tree limbs impeding the driveway up to 15 feet.

"Trees on the street." No problem for the other vehicles.

Two days prior we had a long-bed truck with a separate mounted tractor come on to our property and even get to the barn in back without difficulty. After interrogating the driver, I learned the real reason is he didn't have the talent/qualification to drive a large truck. The shadiest part was when the driver required us to provide him (not Safeway) cash/Zelle directly to him personally for reimbursement.

All this amounted to a $1000 (well $979) combination of lies.

Veterans, they may try and sell you on a "discount" but I promise this is not like the efficiency and skill you expect from a fellow veteran. Don't even get me started on their layers of bureaucracy. They often took days to respond to simple questions like "where are my belongings physically located right now." They refer you into a carousel. Customer service refers you to quality, who refers you to operations, who says they need to contact dispatch to find out. That's even assuming you can get anyone on the phone to begin with. If they tell you any service representative will be your point of contact, in my experience, that was false. One contact didn't respond to any questions we had for four weeks!
