Placed order online for an item in stock at Westgate but collect at Henderson. Told days seven days max. Phoned ten days later, they were unaware of the order. asked for refund and was told yes, but refund in seven days … which is against the consumer guarantee act. Told them I would visit to get that in writing. Just awful.

"Unsatisfactory customer service"
Order placed for 2 photo albums on 11th March, it is now 25th March and no confirmation of order or status update. Customer support couldn’t even fact check the order before responding, but instead have been giving me short random answers based on assumptions, or giving me abrupt answers such as the shop will call you when the order is ready (what shop? I ordered for home delivery!), we have been going back and forth for the past week.
Then a week later it turns out the order would have been shipped to UK!!! I made a payment from UK but clearly entered the NZ postal address for delivery on the online form - once again if customer service checked the order number during my first enquiry they would have been able to see the error, or if they simply sent me order confirmation this could have been resolved straight away! (Or so I hope!)
I also was fulled by com.nz website for thinking the order would be made in New Zealand or Australia at least, it sounds like it’s being printed elsewhere as the customer service has not answered my question on coupe of occasions, and also it’s taking forever which means they either work part time? Are Very slow? or are shipping it from who knows where? !
I wish I read these reviews first and ordered from more reputable company. Truly disappointed and completely missed our surprise anniversary present!
P.s. the latest comms was that they have contacted the printing company (?) and they will send me shipping details when the order is shipped to NZ hopefully (?).
On positive note at least someone replies to my enquiries but the company seriously needs to invest in better training as well as few simple order tracking updates, which are standard these days, are certainly needed!

Harvey Norman in New Plymouth has been hiring couple of useless staffs at their print center.
Each time these staff invite me into trouble for nothing. I would be surprised if l could get my orders without problem from them. No more. Be ashamed.
Don’t recommend to use the print center at all. Worst service in New Plymouth.

My feedback the person behind the photo centre is rude arrogant and unhelpful and completely wasted my time this morning I am not happy and I want her dealt with by a manager and I would like an apology this has completely wasted my morning I took 45 minutes to come to the store and got nothing she would not even jump out of the square to help with my photo that I required printing extremely disappointed I will be putting this feedback on your website under reviews

(Hastings branch) Absolutely disgusting customer service!! They have no way of talking to their customers who are there to spend $000’s on furniture. Worst experience ever.

"Brought a washer/dryer set"
Brought a washer/dryer set. Salesman said extra 5% if purchasing a matching set which I did. When we got home no discount given phoned the store and told was only for the 9kg. I got a 10kg. Always lots of signs up with special deals but I don't think they are as special as we think. Qualified for gift voucher but can't use till I get my washer which is not back in stock till March. Not very fair. Always have high hopes when I go into Harvey norman to shop but always leave feeling bit ripped off. It is their sales technique you have to be strong or they sell you stuff you don't want. Unfortunately I am not that strong so think best to avoid this store. Not my first choice for retailer to buy from.

Purchased multiple appliances for my newly built house spending almost $10,000. The man who helped me at the store told me that because I’m spending substantial amount they will give me a gift card with $500. Some months later when my house build had completed and paid for it I asked about the gift card. They told me there’s no record of it in the system so they cannot give me that… whenever I ask them they ignore or change the subject… I gave up on that…
One of them was a washing machine which started leaking on the 5th wash. Rang the store straight away and sent a photograph. I was told that I had probably put too much detergent or too many clothes in. They told me that they are busy so no idea what time they’ll be at my place so ended up stuck at home all day waiting for them. I told them that I’ve followed the instructions manual carefully and had a very small amount of clothing.
The technicians came out(one of them was very rude and NOT waring a mask under the COVID-19 restrictions) to look at the machine. I told them that my new floor was water damaged from the leak earlier that day but they were rude and said it doesn’t matter… they also scratched my new floor while pulling the machine but they didn’t care and ignored me… after examining the machine they told me that the liquid detergent I used is the cause for the leak but according to the instructional manual I’ve done everything correctly using the recommended detergent which said on the bottle that can be used for a front loader machine. I asked for a replacement of the machine and I’d use the exact detergent you tell me to use but they refused without any explanation and said even if they replaced it will happen again. I asked what detergent I should be using but they could not give me a straight answer. They said “has to be high efficiency detergent”. They said there’s nothing wrong with the machine and left the house.
After they left, I ran a test without any detergent and the machine started leaking again so I rang them again but they refused to replace the machine or to come check the machine and said “not sure why it’s doing that… try using a high efficiency detergent instead?”… I asked what brand/kind of detergent I should use? They told me they will find out and call me back but never called back… when I call them back they tell me they don’t know.
Very unhelpful and rude. They have no idea about the products they sell and seem to only blame on me for the leak and don’t want to do anything with it.
I now have this brand new but broken machine in my new home with water damaged floor…
I get a letter from the store saying “Tress-pass Notice” not allowing me to come to the store for 2 years…
The worst customer service experience. They have no willingness to improve their service whatsoever and never listen to their customers.

Had a very poor experience with Harvey Norman Design and Build. They lack expertise and actually outsource all their work to Central Joinery anyway. You can save about 30% by approaching them directly. (although i would not recommend them either)
All their terms and conditions are in fine print and they do their best not to disclose anything. think of "im sorry sir, you have already paid".
If you do take them to court and lose, The GM, Mr Graeme Watt, will send you a very thoughtful email. I have attached it below for the people to see.

"Palmerston North Harvey Norman"
Payed for a lounge suit in Palmerston North Harvey Norman on the 10th August 2021. Finally arrived on 25th of November 2021, a 107 day wait. Payed $170.00 for delivery. The Harvey Norman truck around time with the lounge suit. One of the 2 delivery drivers had a bad attitude. His first words were 'bloody long way for a heavy lounge suit' which it wasn't. Gave me a sideways look and never spoke after that. I felt intimidated. Would think twice about buying from them again...
