""Leadership in Action: A Transformative Journey With NSLS and Family""
What truly made my NSLS experience great was the opportunity to collaborate closely with my daughter, Tracy. Sharing this leadership journey with her gave our weekly action plans more purpose and accountability. The structure of the NSLS program, especially the SNT (Success Networking Team) meetings, kept us both on track with our SMART goals and pushed us to reflect deeply on our growth. The step-by-step action planning, followed by personal reflection, brought clarity, direction, and measurable progress every week.
Additionally, the motivational energy from the speaker broadcasts helped reinforce positive habits and provided new perspectives on leadership, goal setting, and overcoming adversity. These talks spoke directly to our experiences, especially as a veteran, father, and returning college student working toward graduation.
What is the company doing well?
The NSLS does an excellent job of creating a supportive and structured environment for leadership development. Here's what stood out:
Goal-Oriented Framework:
The weekly SMART goals and follow-up questions kept us focused and results-driven. It wasn’t just talk, it was action followed by accountability.
Speaker Broadcasts:
The diversity of speakers, their powerful stories, and applicable advice added tremendous value. These weren’t just inspiring talks—they were practical, energizing, and often transformative.
Team-Based Accountability:
By requiring us to work with a peer or teammate, NSLS encouraged real collaboration. In our case, dividing responsibilities between my daughter and me made the experience not only educational but personally meaningful.
Recognition and Achievement:
NSLS celebrates progress and milestones, which keeps motivation high. The recognition certificates and potential induction felt like earned accomplishments, not just participation trophies.
Final Thoughts:
This program works because it challenges you to take ownership of your life and your success. It doesn’t hand you leadership, it helps you build it through action, self-awareness, and community. NSLS doesn’t need to reinvent the wheel, it just needs to keep supporting students with this consistent, proven formula while continuing to add more accessibility tools (like better online tracking of past SNT progress or automated reminders).

"My experience"
Mrs Sonya Cromwell was really great about answering all my questions, and helping me with any concerns I had while being apart. Very thankful to be apart of something so great, and for all the knowledge I learned and gained from being apart. Thank you all.

NSLS has become a helpful resource to my continued growth. I have sharpened a set of skills I had and wasn't using to its full potential. Kim Bun had been such a helpful mentor. If NSLS had more employees like her NYCCT chapter would flourish to new heights. I have been part of several clubs at NYCCT and honestly the assistance with the clubs are almost nonexistent. I continue to enageg with NSLS even after being inducted into the society. Thank you
Best regards

It was very nice to work at your own pace and be able to learn more from other professionals’ personal experiences that help shaped their leadership today. I found it very useful and being able to work with others who are goal oriented to help foster an environment where accountability and increasing one’s success or sense of achievement together as a team.
