"I just bought my second racechip!"

I have my second racechip for some weeks now. The first one I bought was for my wife’s Bmw 220i convertible, 1 year ago. Although the 2.0i turbo engine is a reasonable powerful engine (184HP), it lacked that 'umph' of a turbo engine, just until you rev it up to 5000 rpm. Than it becomes a real turbo engine. But a convertible is meant for cruising, not revving engines. Cruising at 70-80 km/u in a high gear and wanting to overtake it did not react that quick when stepping on the accelerator, unless changing gears and again, revving up the engine. This surprised me in the beginning. Maybe the Diesel engine suits the convertible better but my wife does not drive enough kilometers to drive a diesel. Of course the 240i would be the greatest one to own but that price is just too much. If you ride the 220i like a sportscar, revving the engine, it goes, than it becomes a nice and fairly quick little sportscar, but if you just cruise it feels a bit lazy. Because my wife is driving it 99% of the time I just 'forgot' about it. Somewhere on the internet I read about Racechip. I got interested and read some more about it. Even on YouTube there are a lot of reviews, tests and opinions. As usual, there are a lot of 'experts' on the internet that judge without knowledge or even not having tested a chip or tuningbox at all? But after reading the experiences of people who actually DID buy or test a Racechip I decide to have a go. I figured the cheapest Rachechip (S) would be the best deal. The most HP for your money, if not satisfied there is just little money lost and most important, I did not want to overpower the engine. Tuners promise up to 270 hp for the 220i engine (for around 600 euro), no doubt they will be able to, but I think that is too much for this engine. And really not necessary for my wife’s driving style. Oh She rides fast, but she is not the type of a traffic light racer :-). She prefers torque and being able to overtake a little faster. So I ordered the Racechip S for just 169 euro. A Racechip GTS promises even more HP and comes with Bluetooth etc but I could not care less. The Racechip S looks very good and solid, packaging is clever and well thought of. Either this is a good product or just good marketing. Chip, wiring, a small screwdriver, manual (including how to unlock specific Bmw connectors) is included. It took me exactly 7(!) minutes to install the Racechip. Ok, I watched some installing videos on YouTube before the chip arrived but I wanted te be prepared. It was easy! But than came the real surprise: after starting and testing the engine if it ran well, I took the Bmw for a drive. Wow! After 50 meters I could already feel the engine being much smoother. I could not believe it. Of course the engine itself does not run smoother than factory but the torque has increased incredible. The Racechip promises around 23 HP increase for the 220i, which is more than acceptable for the money but the increase in torque is amazing (+50 Nm according to the website). Exactly what we were looking for. So after a long drive and switching between the settings (I ended up leaving it in setting 3, how it was deliverd), I went home and let my wife drive the car without telling her anything. When she returned she asked me what I had done and that the car was suddenly so much faster and drove so much smoother, so I knew it was not just in my mind. She even thought it was steering lighter but this I can not agree on. Maybe she was flying so fast that the wheels came off the road :-). Believe me, even without measuring the power on a dynamometer you can easily spot the difference. I was really amazed. It gives this engine exactly what is was lacking (for us). After driving it for a couple of weeks I was curious what real performance the engine was putting out, so I connected a Dragy performance meter. I was not surprised to see that the difference with or without the Racechip is exactly 0.6 sec from 0-100. Not bad! Although this is for us completely unimportant you can clearly see the difference. Maybe I will perform a dynorun sometime in the future but the difference in torque and souplesse is so clear and also so addictive that I decided to order a Racechip for my car as well! My 520d is a great car, has a loooot of torque, yes a 530d is even greater but I happen to own a 520d. After this good experience with Racechip I decide to have some fun and ordered one for my 2.0d for just 139(!) euro. Needless to say that after installing the Racechip also my engine transformed into a torque monster. Increase in HP was not so interesting, even chiptuners do not gain incredible nummers of HP out of this 190hp engine but the increase in torque is amazing. From around 1100 rpm the car is launched without any drama, I love it. Both cars run smooth after installing the chip, idling is same as factory. I can only say, if you wanna try, just go for it, it is fun

Positive experience. The box gave the car much needed torque, and what seems a reasonable power boost across the power band for daily driving. I have a K&N panel filter and can hear the turbo boost more now after the racechip install. Hope the car holds up over the years xD

I don’t usually give reviews as I’m not bothered but this one is different.

I bought this racechip for my bmw 750 I g11 lci 2020 production.

I have to say I am extremely happy with it. If you are slightly younger 30 plus than the average 7 series driver you would know Bmw made those cars very annoying. If you want to go fast then u press sport, you get all the power but the suspension gets stiffer. You press comfort plus and then you got a boat in the corners. Best option is to code adaptive as your standard setup so your suspension adapts to your speed but then you don’t have all the power you have in sport mode. A lot of headache. So you buy this racechip and you code the standard driving style to adaptive. Result - you get even more power and an adaptive suspension- what else would you need ? This car comes from factory with 530 hp and you get all 600 with this chip. It will hurt ur back. You have this train acceleration type of feeling where you press the pedal and it kicks but the thing is the kick doesn’t stop :))

Conclusion- buy and buy the most expensive one. 700 euros. You change ur car they send you new racechip so it’s tuning for 350 euros per car
