"A scam of a company “Do Not Engage With…"

A scam of a company “Do Not Engage With Them” contacted them to unblock a 1st floor gutter down pipe that feeds a water butt and agreed a price of £148 Plus the VAT to attend and attempt to clear with rods. The engineer turned up without a ladder kicked the water butt for a couple of minutes followed by a disappearing act to contact his boss on the phone. Came back saying it was now going to be £400 to unblock which I cannot afford. Demanded the £148 Plus VAT still to be paid despite not even attempting to unblock or even to go up and have a look to see what was causing the blockage. Would not leave my house until I have paid. Disgraceful practice and something I will be challenging

Just shows you in desperate situations and when you vulnerable people/ companies like this take advantage of you ..I paid £477 for a 10 minute job should be against the law ..

My call was returned almost immediately. I was kept aware of the time the engineer would arrive and he turned up on time. He was very pleasant and helpful when we discussed the problem. He checked whether he could get the part needed, went to get it and let the office know so that I had a prompt call with the final price. He fitted the tap and checked that all connections were tight and not leaking.
