"Charlatans - double check your contract"
Charlatans and scammers! I was charged for CDW and Theft Protection even though I specifically declined it. The lady at the counter was very smooth and chatty and explained all the local fees etc. When it came to optional coverages I told her I did not want CDW or TP as that was covered by my credit card.
SIXT Dublin is paperless so your contract is on a screen. When it came to sign she never showed me the charges, just scrolled to the bottom and asked me to sign. I had no reason to doubt that anything was wrong.
It wasn't until the next day when I opened the contract in my email and saw I was charged for CDW and TP... CAD$250.00 of unwanted charges!!
I immediately contacted SIXT customer service who simply said that once a contract is signed it cannot be changed!
So, even if you are jet lagged and tired from a long flight, always double check what you are signing for.
ASIDE: Just to reinforce the charlatans that they are, section 8A of their rental agreement states, "CDW does not apply if an incident of Loss or Damage is not reported to Owners within 1 hour of occurrence."
1 hour!!!
I will never use SIXT Dublin again and strongly recommend that you don't either.

I am French. There was no help in the parking lot upon arrival. No one explained the vehicle to me. There is no check of the condition of the vehicle at departure, this is abnormal. The staff in the parking lot were not pleasant. The reception staff were very friendly. The average welcome return and no surprises on the condition. But a very mixed feeling for the service.

We had an issue with another company...
And thankfully the staff at SIXT jumped through hoops to find us a car straight away, and we drove off within 30 minutes of leaving the other company that had mislead us with our planned vehicle rental.
Thank you to the wonderful manager at the airport - she made the transaction smooth, looked after us, and it was simple to return the vehicle to her at the end of our trip.

Sixt experience in Ireland was great. There was bit of queue at Dublin airport but otherwise car was in great condition and return was fairly easy.

Two hires over summer 2024 from Dublin Airport. In both cases the car offered was a downgrade from the class reserved.
Sixt will bait you with premium European vehicles as the type across all of their range, then provide you with a Japanese vehicle.
They are more expensive and less flexible than the other hire companies.
Disappointing experience as I use them in New Zealand regularly where the service and qualifty of vehicles is exceptional.
Sixt Ireland are a stain on the Sixt brand.

"all in all a good experience"
We picked up our car at the Dublin Airport. We were an hour early so we waited a bit for our car, which I expected. The insurance situation was strange and very costly but I attributed that to being in another country. My only issue with check-in was since I reserved the car I was the primary driver and I would not brave the wrong side if the road so we had to pay for second driver. That was annoying.
The car handled well and return was quick and easy.
