"Sixt waited for my delayed incoming flight"
Sixt in Dublin deserves a super positive review. We were flying into Dublin last week with scheduled arrival 22.45. As Sixt closes at midnight we should be fine. Now, the plane was delayed by 2 hours, and we were in trouble. We had entered the flight number in the booking as requested. But, we were not sure that Sixt would wait for us. But they did. A friendly Sixt'er waited for one hour, and we were happy to get the car and move on. The only complaint is that we didn't know whether Sixt would wait for us. It is not obvious from the website and other written information, customer support is closed at the time, email has a 48 hour response time. We also called Sixt Denmark that has an open telephone line, and they tried to contact Dublin on an internal number, but it was not picked up. Sixt should take the advantage of making it very clear that they have this service.

"worst customer service ever"
worst customer service ever. I rented a car and told it was a diesel, make sure you put diesel when you return they said at the desk. On the key it was marked diesel. On the fuel cap it was marked petrol. Shambles. I brought it back without refueling. Explained what happened and was told no problem, apologies. No charge. Then I get a £120 fuel charge on my card. 2 weeks later after multiple phone cals and emails I am still waiting to get a response

"Rented a car in Germany"
Rented a car in Germany, but English speaking. At the reception never explained about extra cost for extra mileage, even though I told them that planning to go far.
Gave wrong information about the cost of leaving the car in a different location. In the end, price was 7 times more.
Contract was given to sign in German, so chance to check only reply on staff. Don't recommend anyone

"Attempted date change led to skyrocketed price"
I attempted a simple date change on my reservation and faced a series of challenges with SIXT:
1. System Flaw: The booking system wrongly changed my vehicle class.
2. Misleading Advice: Was advised by their rep to cancel and rebook. Did so, only to face more complications.
3. Poor Communication: I was shuffled between different regional teams without a clear solution.
4. No Direct Assistance: Despite multiple requests, couldn’t get a call from a supervisor.
5. Inflated Costs: Through all their errors, the price for my booking skyrocketed.
Sixt’s resolution to the issue was to ignore my emails - truly a great experience.

"Paid but couldn't rent"
For holiday we were a few days in Ireland and wanted to rent a car. Booked and paid everything online. When I wanted to pickup the car, they needed my credit card for a deposit. Unfortunately the card did't work and I could not rent the car. I could not get my money back, only a voucher which can only be used personally in Ireland.

"Stay away from Alex..."
We went to the Sixt place at Dublin airport and met a very unpolite staff. As he mentioned, that we do not take the additional offers he made us, he came up with the information, that the creditcard we booked and prepaid already a part of the prize, he wouldn't accept. Finally he charged us 400€ more, than offered, what we recognized as we brought back the car, because the contract wasn't sent to us (surprise:he tipped a wrong address).
Br very carefull there. We try to get back our money right now.

"Much better experience for me than most others.."
I get the feeling this is one of those companies that are perfectly good until there's a problem and then it's rather a lottery how things go. I hired a VW at Dublin airport for a few days - it was a pretty new model in very good condition and drove perfectly. Eva behing the counter was very helpful and they didn't hold a deposit balance on my card for any real length of time after returning the car, and there were no hidden charges. Fingers crossed and you might have a similar experience.

"My son and I had a very dangerous…"
My son and I had a very dangerous experience with a car we rented from Sixt. I posted my first review on July 12 and it is visible on their website. In a nutshell, we did not know this at the time, but the clutch was already nearly burned out when they rented us the car. We got about 50 kilometres out of town when it went out completely. We were on a very busy, 100 k/h, narrow, 2 lane road with nowhere to pull over. Our lives and the lives of others were in danger. Fortunately for us, we had enough steam to roll a distance into a car dealership that just happened to be there at the right time. The mechanic on site came out and looked at our Sixt rental car and told us the clutch had burned out. We waited 4 hours for a tow truck from Sixt to pick us up and lost a whole day of our vacation. When we finally received a response from Sixt about how they planned to compensate us, they informed us it was our fault.
Then!!! They posted the following response to my review (see below). I have contacted them 2 times since this and have not heard a word from them:
Hello Sally,
Apologies for the inconvenience sally. To further this query we will need the rental agreement number as I cannot find the rental searching your name or email. If you are not the rental owner please ask the rental owner to contact us directly as due to GDPR we cannot share info with anyone but the main owner of the rental.
Thank you in advance.
Kind regards,
Eoghan.
