I read the reviews before starting my case so wasn't holding my breath as a tenant.
Our home was let by Reeds Rains and was absolutely riddled with damp and mould. We had issues for the entirety of our tenancy which we provided proof of during the evidence stage of the dispute process. We had photos and emails confirming that the damp was reported many, many times.
A leak which was reported and ignored over the span of 10 months which caused damage to the bathroom, master bedroom and living room - damage to the walls and carpets in each room. Again, evidence provided to show how many times we reported the issue before it was finally sorted. The leaking toilet was replaced but the damage was not rectified leaving massive stains on the carpets in the living room and bedroom - mydeposits have just awarded Reeds Rains part of our deposit for this. What exactly did our rent contribute to?
The final adjudicator report is extremely brief and gives no support to us as tenants but states that if the landlord is not happy they can take further action.
We had the property professionally cleaned before vacating, never missed a rent payment and reported all issues (several times) to the letting agent throughout the tenancy. Yet we have ended up out of pocket despite us following the requirements of the tenancy agreement and Reeds Rains breaking those terms.
Disgraceful service and a ridiculous turn around time for the case.

I made a stupid mistake in the spelling of my tenant’s name on the Deposit Protection Certificate and checked to see how I could correct it. I couldn’t believe it could be as simple as sending an email to MyDeposits but lo and behold it was corrected two days after I sent the email. I was very impressed!
