Working on regular data maintenance & need to ring James Hay as policy info is not available in the portal. James Hay website is really user-friendly that we can find the contact number easily (some of the providers will arrange the contact number in a really "layer" that it will takes us quite a while to get).Also, waiting time is very short (less than 5 mins) & the James Hay representative : Elvan Scott is very helpful & considerate, not only provide the info I need promptly, and also solve the portal issue immediately. She is also willing to stay with me in the line until I can get the info online.
I haven't encountered such a smooth policy enquiry process for a long long time!

"Garbage company, frustrating"
I tried transferring a SIPP account from Barclays to James Hay, they only managed to move some of the assets across. 6 years later I’m still chasing.
I also have been trying to add funds to my SIPP, it appears the left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing. The only person you can speak to is nice enough, but so is my local bus driver who knows nothing about pensions or my SIPP.
If you transfer money to them, they sit on it and struggle to make a simple internal transfer, in spite of the time commitments they give you, which is 4 working days. Yes I’m still waiting.
Regretfully I wish I’d never stumbled upon them. Plus, listen to the auto attendant, it sounds like a 1980’s message, if it wasn’t so annoying it would be laughable. Get with the times! Hopefully my funds will be in my account soon as it is has already cost me on “lost opportunity”.
Dreadful company, expensive, unhelpful, slow, confused information, committing to things and not fulfilling. Personally I’d prefer an honest answer, at least you know where you stand. Someone commented, it’s nice to speak to someone. It is if they actually know what they’re talking about and can do something to get things done.

Undertaking a pension review and having not logged on to James Hay in almost a decade my first delight is that you get to talk to an actual person!
Secondly Luke was extremely helpful, patient, thorough and personable - he didn't leave the call until he'd answered all of my many asks and even brought some humour to the conversation! you don't often get that with pensions! thank you Luke.
