I have recently been dealing with David Boucher, this guy was so patient with me stayed on the line and made sure I did all the online paperwork properly. So far I have nothing but praise for him.

"We got there eventually..."

Since writing the review below, James Hay have now corrected their error and I'm now very happy with my investment and I have received an apology for the initial errors. If they hadn't happened in the first place this would have been a 5 star review.

I have recently moved to deal with James Hay rather than through my FA who introduced me to them in the first place. What a mistake. Nobody reads the instructions properly on their own secure messaging system and trying to speak to anybody who can make anything happen, rather than just apologising, is impossible. Avoid at all costs. My FA has badly let me down by introducing me to this shower in the first place.

"Don’t use"

Don’t use!

They are happy to take your money but don’t transfer it out when you move providers - 6 weeks and still wait and no communication or resolution!

My advice is go else where!

Not to be trusted

Your comments are now a little concerning - how many other former customers are you holding onto monies for! You have had the notification since early august to transfer funds and still not monies transferred to my new provider!

"Very disappointing performance"

In May 2021 I transferred a decent amount of money to be managed by James Hay, and almost 2.5 years down the line I have a double digit negative ROI. I fully appreciate 2022 was a very bad year for stocks and shares, 2023 is not great either but other of my investments have performed much better in 2023. Genuinely disappointed by the performance of James Hay.

"Nathan was most helpful with my enquiry…"

Nathan was most helpful with my enquiry regarding an increase in monthly income from my pension. Not only was he clear, in my view he went beyond the call of duty. He stayed on the line and helped me download, complete, and submit the necessary forms. All in all a pleasant experience.

"Unable to access my Plan"

I cannot access my Plan with James Hay online - I have been trying for 3 weeks now to resolve this with them. I just keep getting messages to say the relevant team have been informed and will be in contact with me about the process to access my Plan. They haven't contacted me.

"How useless?"

Question: Which is more difficult
(a) Getting your money out of James Hay on time
(b) getting blood out of a stone?

The answer is (a)

While the people have been polite and patient, they have refused or been unable to pay me £10,000 (a small fraction of my portfolio) on the due date, even through the money was in cash for more than 2 1/2 weeks. I have spent a day on this, spoken to several of their people, written several secure messages - all to no avail.

I am going to be taking my portfolio away from them as soon as I can manage to do so.

"The reviews tell it all"

13% 5 and 4 star, 84% 1 and 2 star.

Pathetic at responding to questions or requests.

Hopelessly inadequate in the management of accounts - two YEARS to act on a valuation report they asked for.

SIX months, and still not settled, to respond to a request from a tenant in the property in a SIPP that Hay is supposed to “manage” - quite frankly, they couldn’t manage a dead cockroach.

Hopelessly inadequate customer care.

My complaints are now being escalated to the Financial Ombudsman. Watch this space

And now, in response to my review, they are asking for details about my complaints - perhaps if you read my direct messages, emails and letters you wouldn’t have to ask….but that, of course, is asking too much.
